My husband and I traveled to Ketchikan, Alaska to visit my daughter.  We stayed at the Black Bear Inn and had an incredible time.  The owners were friendly and made us feel at home immediately.  My husband has a bad back and traveling is painful.  He sat in the Spa each night and this helped him with his back.  The hotel was clean and our room was very spacious which allowed my daughter to come stay with us while we were there.  A breakfast was provided each morning and it was a pleasure to  walk around the outdoor area to see the birds and take in the water views.  We were provided information on restaurants and places to go during our stay cannot wait for an opportunity to visit again!

A Stay to Remember Fondly for Years to Come

My husband and I spent a week at the Black Bear Inn and absolutely loved it! Nicole and Jim are both so warm and welcoming. I can't say enough good things about them or their property.

We stayed in the cabin because we wanted a full kitchen during our trip and were very impressed by how cozy and well equipped it was. Nicole clearly puts a lot of thought into what her guests will need during their stay. We especially appreciated the fluffy robes! 

The property is right on the water with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. We frequently started our mornings with a cup of coffee down by the water and ended it with a glass of wine in the same spot. We even saw some seals swimming by a few times! 

In addition to providing a beautiful place to stay, Nicole also offered recommendations for tours and activities during our stay. We did almost everything on her list and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We were very sad to leave and will absolutely stay there again if we (hopefully when!) we find ourselves back in Ketchikan.

Can't wait to go back!

A  beautiful bed and breakfast!  You felt like you were home. Has every amenity possible.Such a beautiful rexlaxing setting that is not in town. But only a drive away to check out downtown Ketchikan. The hostess were great and had a delicious breakfast waiting for us. Very helpful and knoweledge about place to see and the best dining places to experience. Would highly recommend

Great Bed & Breakfast

My husband, daughter and I stayed in the Bunkhouse for a week. Truly, they had EVERYTHING we needed. It was a home away from home, only better, because it came with all the beauty of Ketchikan. We were very comfortable. Nicole and Jim, the owners, were an absolute delight and ever so helpful. We hope to enjoy another pleasant stay there again because we still have a wish list of adventures we hope to have there. Highly recommend this place! 

Home Away From Home, Only Better!

This was our second trip here. Although we have many friends and family in town , I love to stay here for the coziness and the beautiful views and the attention to detail of this inn. Nicole and Jim are lovely people and truly want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. All guests are kind and considerate of each other which we really appreciate! We will be back, always! Highly, highly recommend! 

A beautiful home to stay in our hometown 

As the editor of a Travel magazine I have the occasion to stay in a lot of places during the year. Nicole and Jim at the Black Bear Inn are amazing. They add a sense of comfort and home to one of the most incredible places I have ever stayed at. The inn is perfect in every way. I cannot imagine any one not falling in love with this place. From location on the water to amazing rooms and beds with awesome comforters the list is endless. I have stayed with them several nights and it seems to get better every time   They are not the most inexpensive place in town but worth every penny. 

Best place to stay in Alaska 

We arrived at the Black Bear Inn on August 28th and was greeted by the man of the house and were taken to the Inn. It had just cleared up and the sun was shining. The Inn looked amazing. We had been there 9 years ago but only stayed for a night. Our room was the cabin and was available for us when we arrived. We were surprised by an update that added a living room and a full-size kitchen. What an upgrade!!! All new appliances and completely furnished! Everything was what we expected it to be.
A lot of our time was spent running around Ketchikan, but we always stopped early to go back to the Inn to sit out back on the stairs leading down to the water's edge. Several seating areas at different levels and a beautiful view of the water.
I'm a bit jealous of the people that will be staying at the Inn in the near future as a new spacious deck for the water is being built.

A great time at the Black Bear Inn!!

We stayed for 5 nights and wished we could stay longer.  We were in the Homestead room and loved the porch area that looks out over a lovely patio area and the water.  It was very nice to have a fridge/freezer and microwave on the enclosed porch, and we loved keeping the windows open there for fresh air.  We used the well-stocked outdoor kitchen for a few meals and spent evenings sitting down by the ocean watching the float planes go by.  Nicole and Jim are very accommodating and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay in Ketchikan.  Jim even drove us to meet the ferry to the airport!  Lovely area, lovely people, lovely stay!

Beautiful view and outdoor spaces

We had a great experience at the Black Bear Inn. Owners Nicole and Jim are friendly. We had the bigger house on the water and it was super clean, comfortable and quiet. We slept really well. It is a good location as well. Definitely recommend.

Quiet, clean and comfortable

Nicole and Jim are great hosts. Their knowledge of the area helps you tailor your trip to meet your needs. We wanted to see Ketchikan away from the cruise ship chaos and the Black Bear Inn, along with guidance from Nicole and Jim, helped us do that. Location is amazingly beautiful and close enough to the airport without being on top of it. The Inn Itself is beautiful, cozy and well maintained. It was nice to return from a long hike, open the windows or sit on the deck and listen to the sound of the waves hitting the shore and watching eagles fly by. Very relaxing. I will miss talking with Jim and Nicole.
