In the wee village of Chetnole, just outside of Sherborne, Dorset, is a welcoming, unassuming and delightful accommodations called THE CHETNOLE INN.  Not only did we have a charming and comfortable room for a very reasonable price, our meals were delicious...and the staff, so helpful and welcoming.

Went for birthday celebration, superb food and ales on offer. Friendly staff and great service. Stayed at Clockmakers Cottage which is only a 5 min drive from pub. Excellent location for walkers round the Chetnole area would recommend.

Friday night meal after a local walk. Stopped here for the fish and chip Friday special washed down with a couple of pints of Tribute. Friendly warm welcome from the staff, quick service and a delicious meal. Walked in to be greeted by a crackling fire and a packed pub both dining and drinking. The pub is split up with a section for each.
I even did a taste test between the chefs tartare sauce and the packet tartare sauce. Chefs sauce won hands down. Can totally recommend if you are in the area👌 

Visited on a Saturday night (recommend booking as all tables were full). Not a large menu but lots of lovely food. We had the fish dish, which was cod, and a steak. Both were delicious. The puddings were amazing too. Great food and good service. Would definitely recommend

We booked a table here for a meal after travelling all day and expected standard pub grub. With slightly different starters on the menu than normal, we went with them and realised the high standard of food.
The mains were great too and despite feeling full, went for the brownie for desert. 
You won't be disappointed.
The door was left open, it is spacious and airy and the tables were still spaced away from others. The interior was a lovely mix of modern and old. 
A really nice surprise. It turned out to be a big spend dinner as we went for 3 courses and the choice of real ales was good too! But we didn't mind as it was so good.

We stayed at the Chetnole Inn for two nights. Highly recommended. Warm hospitality from Maria, pretty and comfortable room, top class restaurant and all in a lovely village setting. We will definitely be returning.

Visiting area found this gem . Ollie was attentive informative and charming.  Food was excellent and reasonably priced.  Friendly helpful team with top quality produce.  Highly recommended. We enjoyed the evening meal so much we came back for lunch in the garden at the rear. Will be back when next here Thank you 

This is our third visit and the naturally high standards we experienced previously have been maintained. 
No pretentiousness just a great village pub.

We went to Sherborne to visit the Abbey and popped in for lunch on the way home to Poole. 

We were welcomed immediately we entered the bar by a member of the bar staff that we had met on our other visits ( slim blonde lady). 
We were shown to our table and given time to decide what we would have for lunch. I had the scallops and my partner the pulled pork cakes.
Both came with a Green salad - superb! 
For the mains I ordered the roast lamb and my partner the wild mushroom and butternut squash risotto-  again wonderful! 
A pot of tea for 2 had 4 very generous cups in it!
Can't fault the inn - we will be back!

It's certainly worth finding this pub which seems off the beaten track but not far from the A37 between Yeovil & Dorchester. 
We called in for a lunch and were welcomed in the Snug bar where we could take our dog.
The decor was simple and uncluttered, with scrubbed pine tables.  
There was a very comprehensive and imaginative range of lunchtime 'snacks' - though all the portions seemed very generous. We both ordered Eggs Benedict - which you don't find in your usual country pub. It was excellent with a generous amount of smoked salmon, delicious hollandaise sauce and perfect poached eggs!
The beer I had was  a very pleasant bitter from Wriggle Valley Brewery - called Copper Hoppa.

All making a very enjoyable lunch.

Great pub with delicious food and good beer. The main of burger was good and the sausages were also very good.  The desert was excellent and huge. Local ale was perfect. A really nice pub and will return

We went here for lunch, 13 pensioners.  Since Covid there has been a limited menu for lunch but we all agreed the food was excellent.  The puddings were particularly good.  If, like me, you like skinny chips you will love these, they were divine.  The staff were lovely and helpful as well.  

We meet up once a month and ask ourselves “would we come back?”  The answer was “we most definitely would”.

We had a one night stay at the Chetnole Inn, easy to find in a beautiful village, we had a very warm welcome and our room was lovely, spacious and with all the little extras that are missing sometimes, from a very good menu our evening meal was hot and very tasty, service was quick. Overlooking the Church we were ensured a quiet and peacefull night's sleep. Breakfast was fantastic, scrambled egg and smoked salmon. 
Overall an excellent village pub, very well run offering food, drink and accomodation of the highest standard, will definately stay again.

A previous property purchase having fallen through, we are now in the process of moving to this lovely village where we fully intend to become regulars at this wonderful country pub. We cannot praise the food, the location and the staff highly enough. We stopped for lunch and now can't wait to experience dinner! 

Warm welcome, lovely generous lunch - perfect!

From the friendly reception to the quality of the food this is what a country pub should be. The steak served on a hot stone for you to cook as you wish was superb, and the berry and apple crumble tasty if a little too large by this stage of the meal! Excellent value for food that is more than just pub grub.
