I have used this car park twice in the last six months and on both occasions issued parking tickets when I have paid!
The first time I paid cash at the machine and placed the ticket in my window. Just over a month later I received a ticket through the post and couldn’t prove payment.
The last time I paid by card and received a ticket just over a month later. Luckily I can prove payment via my bank statement. 
Be warned. Daylight robbery!!

Warning

Hotel was a tip! 3 nights for £90, in which you couldn’t park in the tiny car park due to vans snd cars dumped in there. And being asked to move the car somewhere else because they need a car moving, which I had to move the car down the road!! 
There is no way of checking in, I had to ring the number through booking.com to check in. She sent out a young kid who didn’t ask for my name, booking information, payment etc. 
No WiFi in the hotel, no reception, no bar nothing what it states online. 
Not worth the money to stay, would not recommend to anyone.

Shocking hotel

We were very warmly wecomed by Doratina, who had ensured our twin room in the annex was clean and warm.
Plenty of clean, fluffy towels,spacious en-suite with what appeared to be quite new fittings.
Good supply of tea/coffee/milk.
The annex is far enough back from the road that we were not disturbed by  traffic noise (even though we're  used to country living with no noise), and got a good nights sleep.
As stated in other reviews, the main house is being refurbished,  so there was no breakfast provided-it was a room only stay. Wi-fi password  was provided on arrival, parking was right next to our room.
A comfortable overnight stay.

Honest comment

This accommodation should not have been advertised as it is basically a building site. It certainly wasn’t as advertised on Booking.om. The main building isn’t open as it is under renovation, we were put in some sort of annex at the back of the car park. We had to be moved from our original room as the front door was hanging off and the separate bathroom (not described on the website) didn’t have a lock. There was no reception and our room was cleaned only once during our stay. My wife and I have never stayed in such a place. 
This accommodation had no breakfast facility, no Wifi, no bar and no service. 
I cannot understand how this dump was charged at £285 for the 3 nights 
We have to endure the stay for 3 nights as my wife had a function to attend and we could not make alternative arrangement at such short notice. 
This Place is a building site and our accommodation and its facilities were not as described. We had to make the walk into the town for our breakfast, dinner and drinks. We had no one to ask about how to get about or for any other general information of the area
Despite our complaint we have had no response from the property
Avoid at all cost

Dump

Booked 4 days  and 2 rooms  here while working in the area..... Shower was broken in one of the rooms and when mentioned to owner we were snapped at that it would be  repaired when we had paid our bill.... this was a work booking so had already been paid for.... turned out that when they input our company credit card details   the payment was declined because the hotel was on a stop list for fraud!!!!!!!!

Unfriendly and Broken Shower

Arrived at the Gungate and it was under restoration which we were not told about,the annex was nice and luckily seperate from the main house/hotel. The lady who greeted us was pleasant & the rooms were basic but everything you needed. Very disappointed not to have the bar open for food or drinks no facilities at all. Just been taken over so be aware of that when booking. Nice place but needs lots of work. Shouldn’t have had to pay full price but we had to that wasn’t fair it should state it on the internet. Might be new owners but false advertising at the moment. We are decent people so we let it go but won’t be booking again alot more hotels in the area offering more for money.

Not impressed

Rooms are mostly in an annexe which is away from the traffic on the main road outside.  The room was fairly compact but had all the things you need.  Nothing special, but perfectly good.  Book direct and breakfast is include.  Book via booking.com and and you don't

Decent B&B

Just attended a company business meeting. Facilities were excellent including the WI-FI network. Host Sue put on a great food and drink. All our staff enjoyed the day. Ample parking ensured all staff could attend. Thanks Sue.

Business Meeting

Had a business meeting at The Gungate and found it to be a very pleasant environment. Owner and staff were very polite, kind and helpful. The food was great. Would definitely recommend hosting meetings at this location.
