Is it a bird, is it a stone? Is this the Richmond or the Jericho Hotel? We’ll never know. Nearly £100 per night - not bad for the 90s dated setting, but poor taste for 2023. Decent sleep though and a generous supply of tea and coffee bags and sachets. Do you like to be extorted? Do you like the smell of mouldy drains? Do you like the smell of barbecue down from the restaurant? I know I don’t.

Damn good restaurant but poor and overpriced hotel

Oxford is an expensive City, finding somewhere well located at a reasonable price is a challenge. We had our fingers crossed when we booked the Richmond but we needn’t have worried. It’s not absolutely central but it’s in trendy Jericho, with good pubs and restaurants all around - if you don’t fancy the hotels own Lebanese offering. Central Oxford is a short walk away. The rooms are simple with few frills but the essentials are there. Good bathroom with decent shower, full size towels, comfortable bed, tea and coffee making kit and all nice and clean. Be aware that the check in is via the restaurant counter but the good news is they give you complementary baclava! Definitely worth considering if you’re on a budget! We’ll be back. 

Basic but good

Came here for a one night visit, cheaper than any hotel in the surronding areas and the room was well cleaned and had everything we needed. The food downstairs was excellent too. Staff were very friendly

Good value

In a word, shabby. That said, the linen and towels were clean and our asthetically unappealing room was attended to daily. Despite being situated above a Lebanese restaurant it was remarkably quiet; especially at night. The accommodation is described as a hotel but it's really more of a guesthouse. Oxford is a very expensive city and if you're not well heeled this is the sort of place you can expect to be staying in.

Well located

We realized the morning we were leaving that there were bed bugs in the place! We even caught some of them in a glass for proof. They totally ignored our follow-up email and request for a refund—not even a response. What’s worse is that that probably means they’ll do nothing to get rid of the bed bugs and protect other travelers. Avoid this place at all costs.

BED BUGS!

We spent a night in a double room with private bathroom. The size of the room was quite big, tv and fridge provided. The private bathroom was separate from our room across the hall so if you decide to have that room, bring a bathrobe with you. Overall the room was nice, perfect for a night stay and the breakfast was lovely. Definitely have to have the lebanese breakfast with houmous and feta.

Good value, brilliant breakfast

This was our first trip to Oxford and this bed and breakfast looked good value for money, and it was. We got our key from the bar in the restaurant next door. The room was clean and tidy, but the bathroom was on the small side. There was nowhere to put your shampoo and shower products in the shower cubicle except for a soap tray. The base of the shower was a bit slippery if you are elderly or not so sure on your feet.

The food was good, choice of British or Lebanese breakfast, plus choice of cereals. Staff are friendly and helpful, and will consider returning. 

 

First trip to Oxford 

We stayed here one night and would thoroughly recommend this place for any short term stays. Upon arrival we were offered complimentary pastries before checking in. The room itself featured a good size double bed, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a full size fridge, a fan and the bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower. 

The room was full of character, with multiple mirrors, an ornately decorated wardrobe and different portraits on the walls. 

When we checked out the staff kindly offered to keep our luggage for the whole day so that we were able to visit the city more easily, and again we were offered some more complimentary pastries. 

If you’re looking for a unique practical,short term stay with tonnes of character this is for you. The only limitation might be the one flight of stairs you have to climb to access the hotel.

Great little find a 15 min walk from the city centre :)

Stayed here for one night just for a little break .  So glad it was only for the one night .   The hotel is above an Indian restaurant who also run the hotel so once you Climb the stairs to enter the hotel there is a noice saying you have to go back down the stairs to the restaurant to get your key . Once then back up the stairs to enter the hotel you notice it is all very dated . In my room there was a full size under the counter fridge that had a burn/melted mark on top where the tv sat . Not sure why you would need a full-size fridge but never mind . The bed was tiny even though it was a double and very dated and old fashioned. The sheets were clean but we only had one pillow each which were not very thick.   The backroom had clearly been installed in the room then boxed in and to say it was small is an understatement . I actually banged my elbow pulling my trousers up . There was also one bath towel and one hand towel to share between two of us, which to be honest really is not acceptable .  The tv worked but only had one channel bbc1.   You were meant to get free WiFi but we could not find or see the code anywhere in the room so went without .  The bed was very uncomfortable .  I did have a very nice big mirror on the wall and a wardrobe to hang your clothes but apart from the there’s nothing positive I can say about the room .  It is close to the city centre so it does have that going for it . They did offer breakfast but to be honest we just wanted to leave . For £90 I wasn’t expecting the ritz but it would of been nice to have a towel each and a tv that had more than one Chanel and pillows that actually supported your head .  Not very impressed at all. Sorry   

Poor 

First of all there is no reception, so I needed to go to the restaurant next door to get the room keys. A waiter over there gave me the keys and he wasn’t friendly at all. The worse part of my stay was during the night. It was absolutely freezing and the heater was barely working, plus there was a constant noise coming from the heaters. I managed to sleep not even 2 hours! The room itself is horrible: forniture are very old and damaged. There are no other words to describe this property. I asked for refund but I did not receive even a reply back.
