A very nice place with beautiful surroundings.

On arrival decided to have a drink in the bar prior to checking in, large variety of beers and spirits and a warm welcome.
We stayed in the Cider Press, lovely room with everything thing that you could need, clean, tidy and very comfortable bed.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was superb, all locally sourced, the steak was one of the best that I have ever had. My Girlfriend had the chicken and this was superb too. Overall the menu was excellent, all the food that we saw coming from the kitchen looked really good and I do not believe you could make a bad choice.
The waitresses were very helpful and attentive, The Bearslake Inn operates with very high standards.
We ordered the breakfast hamper, and what a really good idea, it arrives at your door in a picnic basket, we had muesli, croissants, muffins, and as with everything else this was excellent.
Ideally situated within Dartmoor, we walked to Meldon viaduct and reservoir the next morning along the Granite Way.
We would highly recommend both eating and staying at the Bearslake.

A one night stay to remember

Lisa was kind and helpful when we booked and it was therefore decided to take a deal including breakfast and dinner options with the room.
This was lucky because both meals and the Bar were a very high standard and added delight to the stay. We took over the room and were amazed at the size quality and general aspects of the room.
There was even a welcome for our dog.

The access to the carpark was a beautiful walk around the building to the carpark over a discreet bridged river walkway that added excitement to the stay.

The building itself was historic and beautiful ano had some quirky aspects that were as endearing as the impeccable upkeep and immaculate hygiene.

The bar offered excellent choices and the relaxed atmosphere and offered menus meant we were very much looking forward to dinner.
Each of the five or six staff we spoke to during our stay added personal touches that made our visit uniquely enjoyable.

Dinner choices from the menu spoilt us for choice, and it was clear that the kitchen had a commitment that made all the dishes on the carefully put together menu tempting. We were provided seats with more than enough room in a very cosy and popular dining room that was well attended by staff. Without being overbearing there was never a time when we noticed we had waited for anything and the customer focus was clearly working for everyone else dining there.
The starter was exceptionally good and this gave us confidence in some exciting choices for main course. We left room for a similarly delicious dessert, and were pleased to remain in the bar.. with the other happy guests.

It was a fantastic evening.

A short stay not to be missed

We had an excellent stay at Bearslake Inn. 5-star service, outstanding food, and spacious, clean rooms exceeded expectations. The breakfast hamper was a delightful touch, enjoyed amidst the breathtaking Dartmoor National Park views. The inn's dog-friendly amenities, with treats, bowls, and blankets, were a lovely addition. Already planning our next stay!

Exceptional

Delicious grown up food, great service, good location and friendly staff. I enjoyed sea bass and vegetables and my husband enjoyed red deer. Good for a special meal. We didn’t bring the children but they would have been welcomed. Will eat here again when we are in the area.

Delicious food, great service

I booked a table for 14 for Boxing Day lunch for a family gathering midway between our respective homes. The booking team were superb, including accommodating a last minute change to numbers due to Covid. Nonetheless we were still a large group of 11. The whole team were friendly, professional, and  helpful and despite having had a very busy month, we were incredibly well looked after. The menu was extensive (suiting teenagers through to older folk), the food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful family event. I would highly recommend to all 😀

Superb service and food 

We had a fabulous time at Bearslake,  the building is from the 13th century and has that cosy feeling,  the food is amazing also , definitely 10 out of 10

Been a few months since our last visit. Always our preferred venue as a couple. Met with the typical friendly welcome by the gent behind the bar, where my wife ordered a large local G & T and I had a pint of Bays Wild 100 ale, also from Devon, it was superb. We had Goats cheese/beetroot salad and salmon  with beetroot for starters. Ravioli and Cod & chips for mains, sticky toffee pudding and apple / raisin crumble for puddings. All beautifully presented, highest quality ingredients and delicious. The usual lady was serving, who is just lovely and along with the young lady and gent serving, who were fantastic and attentive, the evening was just brilliant, just as it always is, each time we visit. A wonderful evening.

Best review I can give. Beautiful place, real character - no plaster beams in sight, a real proper English atmosphere.

We had 6 dogs and they were accommodated well. Great staff too!

The surrounding countryside is simply the best of British -  wonderful castles, viaducts, lakes, dams - just beautiful.

We stayed here on Friday on a TravelZoo “Dine & Stay” deal and had a fabulous time.

We were in The Saddle Room and from the moment we stepped through the door our 3 dogs and us were made extremely welcome.

The room was huge and pristine with everything we needed, plus blankets, treats, poo bags and bowls for the girls. The beams provided a bit of an obstacle course as we’re both tall but it just added to the charm.

Our food was spectacular, one of the best meals we’ve both enjoyed in a very long time, with service to match. The deal gave us a certain amount per course which we did exceed but it was worth every penny. We were in a smaller room rather than the main dining room, as we had the dogs, but it was really cosy with the warmth from the log burner and extremely chilled.

We both slept well in a very comfy bed with full bellies replete from our exertions on the breathtaking moors. There was plenty of hot water for the superb power shower, too. 

In the morning, the bespoke continental breakfast hamper, pre-ordered the night before, was very tasty with more than enough for both of us. 

We’ve passed here many times on our way to and from Dartmoor and Tavistock and wish we’d ventured in sooner, if only to have sampled the food or enjoyed a drink by the stream in the large beer garden.

Just a couple of points for feedback. 

The gin selection is extensive but the tonics and garnishes didn’t match this. Gin is so popular these days and people expect the perfect serve, not just ice and lemon. 

All the indications on the menus and the bar state a 10% discretionary service charge will be added. We were charged 15% and, whilst it was paid happily, the signage should reflect this. 

Nonetheless, a fantastic experience and one of the most dog friendly place we’ve ever stayed.
