Lovely hotel with lovely staff. Good room with bottled water,breakfast was excellent and restaurant food was excellent too. Very near Town which had various shops and Sainsbury’s and Aldi’s tucked away. 
Also some may think this is strange..  the softest toilet paper ever. 
Plenty of walks and the river Cree.

Definitely would stay here again.

Recommended stop.

This is a nice place, but the decor is very tired and dated. Our twin beds were very low, which would not be great for older folks and they were not the most comfortable.

Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful, although a couple of bar staff served locals first who had clearly arrived after me… and the bar was not crowded so no excuse there.

The breakfast and dinner were both decent meals and the bar, once served, keeps a couple very nice real ales from a local brewery.

The local area is lovely. Great for mountain biking.

Good, but dated

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were welcomed warmly and very well looked after by all the staff. The generous breakfasts and tasty well-cooked dinners were very welcome. The outside bar, on the 2 warm evenings we stayed, was much enjoyed. However, upstairs the furnishings were quite worn and some carpets were threadbare. Our window had to be kept open with a wooden block as the sash was broken as was the catch on the wardrobe door. Further, the final bill did not take account of the deposit paid to secure the room and it took several telephone calls over 3 days to secure a refund when we arrived home. Hence, our rating is reduced.

A comfortable stay but upstairs furnishings are tired.

Went for Sunday lunch on spec - very friendly staff seated us immediately.
Lunch menu was extensive with lots of traditional choices.
Roast beef was delicious 😋. 
The outside area of the hotel has a great playpark area which would be great for families.
Will certainly be back

Sunday Lunch

Amazing food and service, with a luxurious atmosphere. The hotel is well kept and one of the finest I have ever seen. Outside there is an amazing playground for children and a great vibe to the seating outside. There stone baked Pizzas are amazing! along with their cool served beverages.

Great Service and Atmosphere

Enjoyed our stay on Saturday. Lovely cosy fires in the bar and lounge area. 
Our family room was comfortable and warm and shower was great . Access was via quite a steep stair and it was a little  tired in decor but beds very comfy and clean. 
Bar meal was very good. Best Steak Pie I have ever had ! Breakfast was good too and the staff were  excellent . 
Would hope to return one day .

Good stay in Newton Stewart

A great family run hotel set in lovely surroundings minutes walk from the market town of Newton Stewart and about 30 minutes from the ferry ports at Cairnryan near Stranraer for the short crossing to Northern Ireland (Stena to Belfast and P&O to Larne).
There is a cracking bar with roaring fire on cold days and a great selection of ales, beers and whiskies,  the restaurant has a wide range of wonderful meals using local produce.
There are a couple of lounges with very comfy seating and warming fires.
The staff are most friendly and helpful.

A wee gem of a hotel

Warm and welcoming the fireplaces were  lit just what was needed on a cold one night January stay. Staff  and service was friendly and attentive we had an excellent evening meal in the restaurant and drinks in the well stocked bar the room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from

Our first visit for a meal in the Restaurant. It's a lovely cosy traditional hotel plenty of people in the bar and the restaurant soon filled up. Service quick, efficient and friendly and really good choice of all courses and the food was excellent and will definitely return.
