Just back from an amazing weekend at Dragon House.
There were 20 of us in total ranging from 4 months to 80 years old.
This house is perfect for a family gathering, there are so many great areas of the house, whether you want to relax by a roaring fire, play pool in the games room, chat around the dining table or sing around the cosy bar.
All the bedrooms were beautifully decorated with beds made up and plenty of towels.
We all had a fantastic time and will definitely rebook !

80th birthday weekend

I went to a retreat here. Brilliant time . Accommodation very comfortable and homely . Bed s are really comfortable . Excellent catering kitchen. Second time here and back again next year. Harvey is a great host. Lovely fire to sit round in the evenings and a games room for adults and a separate  one got children

Review 2020

Dragon House was the perfect place for my 50th Birthday celebration. 16 of us all enjoyed staying here. It's quirky charm with every room being different. The bar was a big hit with its log fire made for a great atmosphere. Kitchen was perfect with catering oven / dishwasher / fridge/ freezer. Plenty of crockery etc. Bedrooms good with ensuite so everyone had there own space.
We had caterers in for the Sat evening and this made for a stress free evening and they had lots of kitchen space to work in.


50th Birthday Weekend 

Hired the house for New Year for 20 of us including kids & dogs. It needs a lot of TLC in places and the hot water can be very erratic but with the bar area and commercial kitchen it really is a great fun property for a large group. The road can be busy but you don’t really notice any road noise. It’s perfectly located for the steam train at Washford & the very good Washford Inn. There’s a lovely big lounge & separate dining room and the bar area does make it feel like a pub. We had to turn away a biker who thought it was still a hotel but as we were full couldn’t offer him a room!

Party Time! 

18 of us had a long weekend here to celebrate a 40th birthday, unfortunately we picked a weekend when snow and freezing weather arrived, a two hour journey taking five and a half hours, all fortunate to make the trip. This is a fantastic venue for a party, ages from 5-65 all had a great time, the various spacious rooms for entertaining ensured masses of free space to rest up. The bar area was by far the congregational point, not particularly large but felt like in your own pub, open fire and ample log supply completed the ambiance.
No real probs with the bedrooms, although the downstairs room in the annexe was very basic and needs at least a table in it as there was just a small wardrobe, not even a chair. Most folk felt cold in the house, in general the heating was not upto scratch for severe cold weather.
Ample parking, great kitchen and lots of space mean a great place to party in warmer weather. To venture out means a short drive, nothing close and in walking distance.

Party house

Plenty of room to spread out in the many downstairs rooms although some road noise if you have some of the bedroom wondows open.  Kitchen ok but so called dishwasher is probably a glass washer.  Washing up and sink area dated and insufficient to place hand washed utensils and no proper draining board - large hole in the one nearby area.  The house in general is tired with quite a few things needing attention eg yards of extension leads all over the ground floor areas (? Fire risk), - could do with shower curtains in some bathrooms - only a handshower - some fittings loose or damaged. The ground floor area can be best described as a bit grubby.
  All in all a good place to stay if you are a large party group and do not mind the rough edges but this is never five star quality.

General advice

Hired the Dragon House and the attached Wisteria Cottage for the weekend for 40th Birthday celebrations with family and friends.
The Dragon House exceeded our expectations - the bar area was well used and had the benefits of still having the taps for beer (which the owners can arrange for you) and the optics for spirits as well as the roaring log fire. The dining room is very spatious and was plenty for our group size (17) and has a large gas fire. The catering kitchen is as everyone else has said a bonus - there is a under counter and a full industrial size fridge plus an industrial size freezer and cooker. 
All the rooms are en-suite with either a bath, shower or both.
The gardens are well kept and we even made use of the patio area as we had glorious weather on the Saturday!!
The owners are on hand for any problems (we had a slight snag with fused lights - easily and quickly rectified by the owner).
The property is also in easy reach of Minehead, Dunster Castle and the steam railway.
Overall the Dragon House is quirky in places (but it is a listed coach house) but a real gem and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

40th Birthday weekend

Stayed end of November- 18 adults and 3 children for a 80th birthday reunion. 
This venue is perfect to cater for large parties- the commercial kitchen is fantastic, well equipped and clean. The bar being left in the house is a nice touch- we made use of that. The open fires give it a really homely feel and despite the size of the building it felt cosy. 
We also used the cottage out in the garden and the two story garden rooms which were both added extras. 
The garden is very nice, a little play area in the top part for children which luckily we could make use off. 
The rooms are a little dated as expected with an older property. The furnishings are old and used but in keeping with the building. 
Each room is en-suite and private. There is a games room on the top floor, 2 large dining rooms and a large lounge. 
Overall we couldn't of been happier with this holiday rental and would definitely recommend.

Fantastic Holiday Rental!

Great venue for a big friends and family get together. Pub was brilliant and the hotel really big and quirky. All the rooms were great and en suite.  Highly recommend and will be booking again in the future.
