My second stay with James and Lewis. The Earlsdale never disappoints, everything is carefully thought through to ensure a relaxing, restorative experience. The perfect location for exploring every beautiful North Devon has to offer.

Perfect place to stay 

We have been visiting the Earlsdale for a few years now, I have to say that not only is it consistently good, but Lewis and James are always seeking to improve on what is already fabulous. This is where their passion for the building and the buisness come together to make every stay feel just perfect. This place feels like a little safe haven, the rooms are modern, smart, and clean, and the welcome is warm. The food is just the topping on the cake. (excuse the punn) They will continue to have our regular visits. 

By far, the best B&B 

Exceptional decor - I could  sit in the room all day and just take in the scenery ! Own room, breakfast room, bar, all very tastefully decorated. Lewis and James are very attentive and will answer your every question, giving you recommendations against your requirements, whether that be food, places to visit, places to walk, etc… 
Breakfast is a treat, with a comprehensive choice of vegan or non-vegan, with cereals, fruit, yogurt, even home-made bagels. 
Location is great too, not within the noise of the harbour area, but rather a nice 10 minute walk from the town centre itself.
In summary, it feels like a steal that we only paid what we did ! Will definitely be revisiting. 

Exceptional place to stay where you will be taken care of.

We have just returned from another 5* stay at The Earlsdale where I spent my 50th birthday!  We would not hesitate to recommend staying here. From the moment you walk into the hallway you feel at home with a warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and the atmosphere is relaxed. Every time we stay we look forward to breakfast. The pancakes are so light and fluffy. It's great to have so many options as well at breakfast including some great vegan choices.  The attention to detail is evident in each room from the mini bar, the home-baked muffins, the shampoo bars and the eco friendly products. Each room (I think we've tried most and Room 5 and 2 are our favourites but all are good) has been upgraded and are stylish and comfortable. The only downside is having to leave! We are already planning our next stay. If you are considering a trip to Ilfracombe or the surrounding area there really is no better place to stay than at The Earlsdale. 

5* experience for my 50th! 

Booked directly at last minute as attending a funeral, using Trip Advisor as a guide re the best place to stay in the area. TA was absolutely correct; what an amazing two night stay I had. Given the sad circumstances, Lewis & James were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them to ensure I was comfortable and any requirements met. The room, decor & in room facilities were excellent (bed was really good). The bar and dining room also wonderfully decorated and welcoming with a great selection of drinks and local preserves etc respectively. I do not have enough space within this review to adequately pontificate about the two wonderful breakfasts that I enjoyed! Suffice to say, you will probably not ever get better in any B&B in the land; superb! I cannot recommend The Earlsdale highly enough and would give more stars if possible. Lewis and James, as well as being charming, personable & all round good folk, have got this right, be very proud Gents! (Oh, btw, I even had the luxury of charging my EV there also! Brilliant!)...

The Best B&B in Ilfracombe? I think so...

This was my first time visitng the Earlsdale although family I visited with had been a few times before but - I had the best stay! Lewis and James were so friendly and welcoming and had thought of everything. The decor is so modern and everywhere is so clean. The homemade cookies left for you in the room was a personal favourite. The breakfast is excellent, there is so much choice and everything is fresh. We will be back to visit again! 

Highly recommended B&B

We have stayed at The Earlsdale B&B 3 times now and had an amazing stay each time. Lewis and James make you feel at home from the moment you arrive and nothing is too much trouble.  Everything is spotlessly clean and they have thought of everything a guest would need to ensure they have an extremely enjoyable stay. The breakfast is excellent, plenty of choice for everyone's taste and it is all beautifully served. 
The cooked breakfast is piping hot! The home made vegan muffins are amazing and so to is the homemade bread. The B&B is within close walking distance to Ilfracome town and a short drive to Woolacombe. We will, without doubt, be staying there again.

Superb B&B in Ilfracombe

We stayed here for 3 nights and I have to say that Lewis and James were the most welcoming hosts I have ever met. 
The breakfast was amazing , best vegan breakfast ever! The food was good quality and you could see that it was all from proper brands, not cheap stuff.  There was loads to choose from too.  A really great continental style spread too with lovely home made muffins that were so scrummy.
 Another bonus was the view of part of the garden (it has different levels), during breakfast and watching the waterfall . 
Our room was lovely,  comfortable and spotless. All of the rooms have a different theme, as we discovered when Lewis showed us around and showed us all of the work in progress as some of the rooms were  being renovated over the winter.  
Although we didn't use it,  they have a great chill out area next to the dining room which was cosy and candle lit with a small bar. You help yourself and jot it down so it can be paid for on departure.  
I really enjoyed my stay here and am looking forward to returning at the same time next year, if not sooner!

Most welcoming hosts ever, who are also wonderful cooks! 

Just got back from a excellent stay at this guest house.Lewis and James were fabulous hosts nothing to much trouble for them.Breakfast was delicious homemade bread and muffins and so much choice.Honesty Bar which was a nice treat if you fancied a drink in the evening before 9.00.Room was very well decorated and cosy.Nice garden out the back if you fancied sitting in the sun.Well done Lewis and James we will be back

My friend and I stayed for two nights in order to visit Lundy. We are so pleased we booked The Earlsdale. James and Lewis have invested time, energy and love into their B and B and this shines through. Nothing was too much trouble. If you are visiting North Devon do not hesitate to book this delightful place.
