Excellent food, so good we ate there 3 nights in a row, black rock steaks were the best I’ve had! Great beer garden, nice atmosphere and staff were super friendly especially Kat, couldn’t be more accommodating…trust me the place to eat when in Frome

Excellent food

If I could rate zero I would.  Booked a table online for 6.30pm.   Arrived at 6.17pm and told the the table wasn’t quite ready even though not very busy.  Bought a drink and sat at the bar, advised that we would  be seated very soon.
Completely ignored by the numerous bar and waiting staff.  Finished  drinks at 6.41pm
Took glasses back to the bar and told the staff not to bother. Bar staff couldn’t care less and no apology given.
Shocking .  I will never return.  Manners cost nothing !

Waste of time booking

Looking for a meal one evening in frome while waiting for our evening entertainment we googled and decided on this place, warm and friendly staff, spacious and clean, we ordered our evening meal.. we didn’t wait long and when our food came out we were blown away, generous portion sizes , presentation was amazing and sooo so tasty , the chef in this place is so talented and obviously passionate about what he does. Cannot praise enough, the last mouthful was as tastiest as the the first snd we all cleared our plates.fabulous, would definitely go back and will remember this place. x

Incredible food

Thought we would take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme so booked our table for 7 o’clock. Was seated fairly quickly into a busy restaurant. Within 10 minutes the restaurant had completely emptied. We waited 20 minutes before anybody took our drinks order (which again arrived fairly quickly). After 45 minutes we were still waiting to order food. During this time approximately 6 members of staff were in the room clearing one table. I appreciate it is a busy/stressful/difficult time but waiting over 45 minutes to even place an order is unacceptable. Paid for a our drinks and left and won’t be returning for the foreseeable.

Disappointed 

B&B in a twin room. 

The staff were nice. The breakfast was ok, although the menus were covered in food.  

The hotel part was pretty poor. Clutter all over the place. Noise from next door telly. The spare bed was a camp bed....the sort you might have in a tent. Everything was tired.......

I wouldn't stay here again.

Tired place.

Very sad to be writing this but.... We recently moved to the area and enjoyed a fantastic experience at The Old Bath Arms the first time we visited (less than 6 weeks ago or so)

Having booked to see a film at The Westway Cinema for 7.45 I rung up The Old Bath Arms for a pre-cinema supper. I was told they were full in the restaurant but were happy to seat us in the bar for food, which was perfect as we had such a delicious meal we were just happy to get in!

We arrived and it all went downhill. 

We were offed to sit downstairs in the restaurant but as the tables weren’t ready yet we agreed  so as to not have to be an inconvenience we were happy to sit in the bar. We were also on a time limit - we arrived at the restaurant at 6.45 in order to make our viewing. 

The lady showed us to our table on the bar and gave us menus. She was lovely, absolutely no complaints about the blonde haired waitress. But the table was so sticky it was unpleasant.

We then checked the clock and went back downstairs to the restaurant to see who we could order from. 

A young waiter with black hair said ‘Oh no has no-one told you if you’re in the bar you have to order at the bar?’ 

Unfortunately no-one had.

Fast forward 45/50 minutes, chasing our food twice, once with a lady who never got back to us and once with an excellent and friendly black waiter (I forgot your name but thank you!) we finally got our food and shovelled it down. 

We appreciate all your delicious food is cooked to order, however this evening the service was pretty hit and miss. We did say on the phone, when we arrived, when we ordered and again afterwards we were on a time limit. We would have understood completely as it’s around the Christmas period how busy you may be and booked elsewhere. We both felt forgotten and as someone who has posted an excellent review in the past I feel sad writing this. 


Second visit in a month - very disappointed 

We stayed here at the end of a tour across Somerset. We had 2 rooms as they couldn't provide twin beds. My room was OK, but my wife's was damp and musty. Breakfast was good. Dinner the night before had some issues. I ordered the steak and my wife a gourmet burger. Then the waiter tried to explain their buy one get one free. Sounds good. Then he said I had to buy a sauce (extra 3 pounds I think) in order to qualify. I said OK so long as the sauce was on the side and came nowhere near the steak. I'm a bit of a purist. Then he said I had to cook it myself. Apparently they have this gimmick (which was the thing in Canada many years ago) where you get your steak on a hot rock and you cook it yourself in front of you. I said if I wanted to cook a steak I'd do it at home and when I eat out I want a good chef to cook it. So we didn't qualify for the buy one get one free. The steak that was presented was cooked perfectly.

I did speak to the manager about the issue and he tried to explain that if he did do the buy one get one free and cook the steak as well, he would have to hire another chef. Of course if we had both chosen the gourmet burger the offer would have applied, so I don't really understand that explanation. A disappointing response, though given politely by the manager.

Ok place to stay

Took my mum out for dinner to somewhere we hadn't tried before and we weren't disappointed, Lovely tapas, cocktails and steak! Waiter couldn't do enough for us, thank you. We will definitely be visiting again 😊

Lovely food

Yes quirky in a good way - just !!!!

It’s a bit of a rabbit warren on arrival 

The visit was made by being looked after by a very competent fun waitress - I wish I knew her name 
We were sent to the bar while they sorted a table as v busy - despite 2 on the bar they were so slow we had the table before the drink 

The waitress came and sorted us ! Huge menu - really too much to work out choices actually 

But we had excellent steak cooked on hot stone and various tapas - it was very good and again waitress made the visit - food was very good 

Quirky and  mostly good 

So when we turned up we were not welcomed by anyone. We had to walk into the bar and ask where we were meant to be staying. The lady instructed us we were upstairs. So upstairs their was  no one on reception and had to wait tens mins for the recipisiont to finish her cigarette and coffee. Once done we weren't even shown to are room just to go upstairs. The room was disgusting it was filthy no where near cleaned to a hotel standred.  But worst was yet to come after having a discussion with my gf on what we were going to eat are door was hammered at. I opened the door to be greated by a very nasty south African man accusing me off hurting my gf. I've never been more insulted in my life. Words can not describe how bad this place is and I would suggest people avoid at all cost.
