I would keep this review very short and precise, as I intend to leave a detailed review later. I will start with the positive aspects, as it surpasses the negative.

What I loved:

- The welcome - quick and simple. 
- The staff - very helpful and pleasant
- The bed - comfortable and perfect for a good sleep
- The shower - clean, powerful
- Bath towels - white and clean
- Hot water supply - unlimited and available at all times
- coffee and tea supplies - unlimited
- prompt assistance from the staff at all times

What let me down:

- the room decor, which was much different and not half as good as the images shown on the website.
- the carpet seemed dirty, which might be the wrong impression, as I had expected the colour of the carpet to be that in the images.
- the room on the ground floor - it was impossible to open the window curtains, as there were always people outside the window and our privacy was more important to us. And coming from a sunny world (South India), it was extremely depressing to be stuck in a dark room with the curtains shut always. We requested to be moved to another floor, but the hotel was fully booked and there were no rooms available on the upper floors. We were miserable during the first few days, simply because we had to choose between light and privacy, both of which were of ultimate importance to us and privacy always won. It also worsened the jetlag, as we didn't know, when the sun went up or down, when we were in the room. That ruined the whole experience for us, even though it was not at all bad actually.

All that said, I wouldn't mind staying there again, if the location works for me next time. But I will ensure, I have a room on the higher floor. And since I won't be keeping any high expectations about the room decor, I don't think the lack thereof will affect me much next time. A big thanks to all the staff members for making my stay comfortable.


Great staff, comfortable bed, unlimited hot water supply and clean bathroom

Totally unreasonable. First I was given air-tight room with a tiny opening on the roof similar to an animal cage. I was told that hotel is full. After re-requesting again, I was given another room and the quality of that room was of 1970s standards. I paid £200+ for one night stay and felt I moved back in time by 50 years at that cost. I am a diverse person and British national. I'll remember this stay as an example of the quality of Premier Inn in Scotland forever.

Standard of Premier Inn Edinburgh East

It was our first time in Edinburgh and we were looking for an affordable place for our family. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel is just outside town centre but very easy to get to main attractions by public transport and about 15 mins walk to the beach.
The room was quite at night so a good nights sleep was guaranteed.
The cleaning could have been better. There was something on the wall in the bathroom behind the door and it looked disgusting. 

Trip to Edinburg

The room was poor. There is a need for fresh paint and deep clean. No housekeeping to pick up the bin or clean cup for coffee

Good location bus service close great breakfast at a cost of $8 GBP 
Lots of stairs the elevator was broken when we arrived but fixed next day staff did carry our bags though, pleasant, only we booked a twin room and on arrival only a double available, was also fringe in Edinburgh so very busy time check details in advance

The floor of the room and the entry way to the room was very dusty and could easily smell and feel it.

As a business user we regularly use Premier Inns. This is by far the worse I have stayed in. A very tired and run down venue, for some bizarre reason there is no open hot buffet at breakfast, so you don’t know what you are getting. Evening meals have few options for non meat eaters, you would struggle as a vegan. I paid too much money for this hotel, nearly £600 for 3 nights. I booked out after one night and will be seeking a refund. It’s just not good enough Premier Inns. Sell this venue !!! it does your reputation no good at all 

A VERY TIRED AND WORN HOTEL

The room was very hot. The duvet was stained on both sides. There was no iron/ironing board. 
On the first night I ordered chargrilled chicken which was very over cooked to the point that it had neither flavour nor texture. On the second morning of our stay I ordered soft boiled eggs from the breakfast menu. I was served hard boiled eggs. When I found the waitress and explained, she got up from the table where she was sitting and walked off without a word - to the kitchen, it seems, as a short while later I was served two more eggs which were barely cooked with their albumen still clear and gelatinous. It felt like punishment. On that morning, the restaurant also ran out of milk for cereal and all bread/toast/croissant etc by 0915. This was the day we were due to attend our daughter's graduation and had planned to use the hotel as a base, however a sign in reception warned us that there would be no water between 1030 and 1500 - when we would have been getting ready to attend the ceremony - so we had to make alternative plans. We also found the policy of seating all diners in the restaurant at adjacent tables despite others being available unnecessarily intrusive.

Great Welcome at Reception

Our first time in Edinburgh celebrating my 60th Birthday. Lady at reception on arrival was welcoming and informative. When she knew we were there to celebrate my birthday she gave us 2 small bottles of wine and some shortbread which was much appreciated. Unfortunately the lift wasn’t working however she gave us the choice of floors and offered to get someone to help with our bags.

Food at the Beefeater restaurant was lovely. Staff also very pleasant.

Bus stop 100 yards up the road so easy to get in to the centre. 

We would certainly use this hotel again.
