We've been planning to visit Wells for years and finally did so this year.  We wanted to stay somewhere comfortable, clean, cosy and near to Wells, but not in Wells itself.  Coxley House seemed the best fit and so it turned out to be.
It really is just a few minutes' drive from Wells and on our arrival, Julia welcomed us with tea and cakes, served on the patio.  The friendliest welcome we have ever experienced, anywhere we have stayed.
The house is beautiful, and our comfortable room was spacious, cosy and clean with everything we needed.  There is also a beautiful guest sitting room.
Breakfast offered a superb selection in fabulous surroundings - delicious and plentiful, which kept us going all day.
The people of Wells have been welcoming pilgrims and visitors for centuries, a tradition that Julia continues with genuine friendliness and generosity and we're looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed 2 nights at Coxley House and had a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Julia the host, and her freshly cooked breakfasts served in a magnificent dining room kept us going all day. We came to the area to see the murmuration of starlings on the Avalon marshes and the B& B was perfectly placed to do this and also visit Wells and Glastonbury. We stayed in the twin cream room which was very spacious, warm and well appointed with plenty of cupboards and surfaces for all our stuff, and with views over the garden. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well in the peaceful quiet of the countryside.Fresh milk was provided for tea, and a glass of wine and nibbles was brought to us as we were unpacking.All in all this was a wonderful relaxing place to stay where we were very well looked after. I can’t find a single thing to quibble about. I would definitely return.

We spent two nights at this hidden treasure. The owners Julia and Mark have spent a considerable amount of time and effort as well as invested a considerable amount of money to provide an excellent B&B. Situated in the quiet village of Upper Coxley just three miles from the Catherdral city of Wells in Somerset. The rooms are spotlessly clean with a lovely range of furniture, decorated to a high standard to compliment the grandure of the house and the rural setting. An expansive garden provides a quiet space in which to relax during the day or into the warm summer evenings. Julia cooks a wide range of options for breakfast, sourced from local products wherever possible and goes out of her way to ensure satisifaction. Fresh fruit is also available. However, the full English breakfast is just amazing! Coxley House is ideal for any length of stay from one or two nights or longer, you will not be disappointed. We intend to become frequent return visitors.

Located in a small village lane out in the country just 2 miles from Wells,  this is the very best of B&B.  Host Julia is just so welcoming,  tea & cakes in the garden on arrival set the scene.  The house is an old classic with large gardens. Recently restored with care & consideration.for its timeless classic style & decor.   In such a house all rooms are large & the well appointed bedrooms are no exception & have space in abundance.  Breakfasts are nothing short of spectacular,  all you can eat & more,  tea is rich dark brown & the pot is never allowed to go stale or empty.   Nearby Wells is a must visit, the cathedral especially,  the shopping is pretty good & there are lots of good restaurants.  

We had a very enjoyable 2-night stay at Coxley House. We were made very welcome and our room (the Cream Room) was spacious, comfortable and immaculate. There is also a lovely sitting room for guests to use. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Coxley house. It is a beautiful house, in a peaceful location, with hosts who could not be more friendly and helpful (even offering to pick us up from Wells after our meal, if we wanted to drink at the restaurant)  The bed was super comfy, the room was large, light and airy with fresh flowers, fresh milk for tea and a spacious bathroom. Breakfast was superlative - we had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, fresh fruit salad and real coffee, which were perfect - but I am sure the cooked breakfast would have been equally excellent.  The only regret I have in writing this review is that it might encourage others to go there, and therefore it might be full when we wish to return.... which will be soon!
