We were greeted at the bar/reception and given our keys and instruction on finding our room..we had booked two double rooms (a friend came with us). On entering both of rooms there was a very stale smell and it was freezing  cold.. we read the instruction panel on the wall for the heating, it was only available between set times and based on motion sensors in the room... we spent two hours in the rooms during the so called times the heating would come on and it never did. We had to go and request it be turned on and even that took a lot of time to even get acknowledged at the reception/bar area.
The rooms had been booked for two adults in each of the rooms but each room only had one towel,one coffee mug and one glass...I mean come on it was booked for two people in each room....my partner then showered and it took over 5 minutes for any hot water to come through and when it did I was scolding hot. I showed after him and couldn't get under the water,we tried turning the temperature down and then it took a good while for it to cool down so I could get in.
Our friend had no hot shower water initially so he went to reception and was told to take shower head down and hang it upside down so the water could draw though (thankfully it did). Now understandably we booked knowing we were above a pub but I mean I have never heard music in a pub booming like that untill 11.45pm (it was like a rave, floors in our rooms vibrating kinda loud) i feel this could be a warning that is advertised on the website?? Locating free carpark is a nightmare, again some instructions on website could be useful but the gentleman in the bar was very helpful in directing us.
 On the plus side the beds are really comfy, the bathroom is spacious,the atmosphere in the pub seemed lovely and everyone was enjoying the music but I think it depends on the kid of break your looking for.....I don't feel we will be starying again

Had an amazing weekend here. The people we fabulous and great fun. They made us so welcome and part of the fair green family. Great room and brilliant karaoke on friday night...cant wait to go back next year.

Brilliant weekend!!

Looks nice from the outside, no staff around for queries, had to pick keys from safe box outside, then instructed to go to the room via the booking confirmation. Upon entering the room I saw that it wasn't all that great, it was cold and uninviting, the only saving grace was that it was carpeted, unlike the last place I stayed in night before last, the bathroom was freezing cold and the towel heater/radiator didn't work, I managed to have a shower which was great as it was blistering hot and I managed to keep my skin after trying to work the inadequate controls to 45° temp. The tea/coffee facilities were adequate, and helped me keep warm, due to the size of the radiator wasn't big enough to warm the room properly, but eventually it did get warm, my works van was warmer than that room!!!!! even though I slept in my Pj's (which I was glad I packed, for 'just in case'). I also thought to myself that I would get the spare blanket out to put over the bed so that it would help me keep warm through the early hours when the heating goes off, well I wish I didn't look at it😩😩, as I saw there were dark red stains on it, I braved it and sniffed it (cos that the type of person I am) and it stank of what I knew to be of ladies menstruation, believe me I know the smell (being an ex squaddy), so I put that back rather sharpish, I even showed my colleague to verify what I found because it does sound very out landish. This isn't something that I take lightly and would make up. If you're hoping to take advantage of the free WiFi I'd think again, there is no WiFi available, I tried on my phone and my tablet to no avail. Also to top it off at 1am people were in and out of the doors, slamming it all the time, shouting and singing down the corridor then at 4am there was someone singing again in the corridor, I thought it was at 5am, but my colleague said it was actually earlier (I was so tired I couldn't even read my watch properly), if it weren't for the fact that I was trying to keep warm and waking up at 6am for work, I would of got up to tell him to shut the f**k up, any way my colleague knocked on my door at 07.20 to show me what looked like the singing bloke lying drunk/drugged up in the corridor, still trying to belt out a tune and staggering around the corridor, so we made our escape rather quickly.
In a nutshell (a bad day in beruit would of been better than here), needless to say I won't be recommending this place to anyone, I've stayed in some s**t holes in my time but this takes the biscuit, if I could give it 0⭐'s I would.

I wouldn't bother

My wife and I stayed at the hotel on the 19 to the 25th off September We had booked and payed for on arrival only to be told later on that night there would be no breakfast's for the length off our stay . The  broucher in the room said that they do evening meals when required but we  had cheese and ham toasted Sandwich . They gave us£15 pounds plus 2 drinks  the once to compensate our breakfast and were told this is all your getting

Original room was freezing cold, mattress sagged, bedding was old and faded, WiFi did not work, 

We moved to a functioning room which was adequate, but heating is on a timer and not Available between 11pm and 6.30. Therefore room was very cold in February.
Radiator in bathroom did not work, water pressure poor.

Would not say the welcome was fantastic was pointed to the direction of my room the room was nice simple single bed hence the very cheap price £39 so value for money was exceptional, The pub crowd were scary, to say the least, it was Halloween but if truth be told i did not get scared by the costumes it was the rough noisy f ing and jeffing from the ladies outside that looked poised to either curse you with spells or mug you. on the good points, the Room was comfy and clean with lots of brewing stuff available, hot shower is always good and once warmed up was great  the breakfast could not be faulted cooked fresh and well presented on the negative well the list is extensive Is it just me but being called "Me duck" does not come over as professional, the walls were thin, the room was ok but did need the extra blanket even with the radiations on full blast but the bathroom was really cold, the wifi was none existent and with three devices and the password I still could not get connected, the TV signal constantly pixelated or froze so watching TV was not really an option the view out of the widow was average but it was the car alarm going off that put a damper on my stay don't get me wrong it was well worth £39 but not a penny more. I work in a four-star, two rosette hotel so I am spoilt I would probably not stay again and look for a better place to stay, having read the terrible reviews I must say they were harsh, average, cheap, basic yes but terrible no, it was £39 for god sake I got more than I paid for really. tips would be Take a dongle or book as the Wifi signal id terrible the TV signal terrible if needing a taxi book well in advance as the list provided is so far out of date it took me 20 calls and two hours to get a taxi to a place i could have walked to in half an hour

Well worth the price but it was cheap

We visited here last night.  Was a great place.  Really warm and friendly atmosphere.    The bar staff and owner were really welcoming.   Great live music and an all round brilliant night.    I would def recommend visiting.    We never ate but as we walked in they brought out a sizzler of fajitas.  They looked and smelled gorgeous.   Next time for sure.  

Top night 

I was staying at a local B&B and was offered 10% off on an evening meal here. I had gammon and chips, and chocolate fudge cake to follow.

The food is classic English Pub food but cooked to perfection. Real, home made chips and decent portions. Excellent value for money. Friendly locals and great atmosphere.

Minor niggle:
This is obviously the favourite watering hole of many locals which can obviously feel quite clichey when you're the only one coming in to have a meal. I would just suggest that bar staff be a bit more aware of those wishing to place an order and perhaps explain they need to come up to the bar to order when given menus etc.

Excellent food, friendly staff

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Fair Green Hotel. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. Needed to organise a taxi for later that day however because it was Race day in Doncaster this was a bit of a challenge but with the help of the locals and staff (everyone in the bar ringing local firms to get us taxi) we got one. Such a friendly place. Got to know Karen who works there and she was marvelous, so helpful. The room was perfect, clean, comfy bed, great shower and to top it breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay!

Booked here because it was cheap so did not expect too much however the bar and patrons on arrival nearly made me just turn around and go away.  Very rough appearing crowd, noisy and swearing but the barmaid was very welcoming.  On showing me to my room she mentioned that there was karaoke in the bar that night and my heart sank.  The area does not seem to have much choice in somewhere to eat so stayed in the hotel and the meal was basic pub grub, nothing fancy but nothing to complain about.  The room however was great.  Newly decorated with comfy bed, new bathroom and everything you could hope for.  Also very quiet and I did not hear a single note from the bar.  Best nights sleep of the week and a really good, help yourself breakfast with the cooked option made to order.  Overall, I would stay here again but just be ready for the bar crowd.
