We have just returned from a visit to Longnor Wood caravan site. The site is lovely and quiet, all the staff are pleasant and helpful. We stayed on a touring pitch which was nice and tidy and well spaced, fully serviced. The dog walk was pleasant and well respected by other campers- no poo all clean and picked up.
Site facilities were clean and warm with plenty of hot water in the shower. We understand that there is a gym and sauna but we didn’t use these facilities.
Would definitely recommend as site has good access to lots of places to visit.

Great site

The best campsite I have stayed at! 
Fantastic if you have a dog. The facilities are incredible. There was a wet room for us to wash our dog with hot water, a dog walking field, laundry facilities, outdoor and indoor washing up, toilets were new, clean and perfect! They have a games room with darts, pool and games. There’s a gym and sauna. Absolutely everything you could think a campsite would need they have! They do takeaway evenings, fish and chips one night, pizza another. Beautiful countryside and a great location in the Peak District. Lovely staff. Can’t fault our stay, we will be back thank you!!

Amazing campsite - highly recommend!!

We rented a lodge for the Easter weekend and were blown away by the quality and standards of everything. It was perfect for us, very well equipped, spacious, clean, and had some lovely extra touches such as the basket of bits for my brothers dog. The personalised welcome card was a really nice touch, and the bottle of bubbles in the fridge was a real surprise. The owners of Longnor should be very proud of their site and facilities

Perfect Easter Gettaway

Just arrived home from our short Monday to Friday holiday. I will list the good points and bad points. 

Good

Lovely warm hot tub , despite it being a basic version it was always hot. Really important for me. 

The lodge was super well equipped. It had everything you could have wanted. Probably the best equipped lodge I have been in. Didn’t even miss a dishwasher. Mind you we didn’t eat in much!

Nice touch of leaving some fizz and chocolates. I don’t drink, but enjoyed the chocolate.

Super comfy sofa, it looked brand new. This is our first visit to a dog free lodge without our elderly spaniel Poppy, since we lost her in November. So was always used to wipe clean uncomfortable sofas in the past. 

Free WiFi  was good. It did drop out quite a few times but didn’t cause me any issues. 

Bad

Was very disappointed to find the lodge was in-fact a caravan clad in wood. The lounge and kitchen area was spacious, but the bedroom was small and the bathroom was minute. 

There was terrible damp in the bathroom and bedroom. You could smell it as soon as you walked in. There was even mould on the bedroom curtains. There were two containers on the wardrobe collecting water and they were pretty full. 

The bathroom was in a poor condition. Black mould in the shower, and the shower head was grim. It has not been cleaned for a long time. It needs either a good clean, or replacing. 

There was no sound proofing and you could hear next doors hot tub going off all night off and on. 

The quilt in the bedroom was really thin. 10 tog I noticed when I made the bed. We were both freezing most nights, even with the throw over. The lodge gets so cold during the night. We had to have the window open because of the damp and it aggravating my asthma. 

Despite it being set in a gorgeous area of the country, once in the lodge you had no view other than the lodges on the other side of the road and very high conifers on the other side. It probably added to the damp issues. Would have loved to have more of a view, but not staring at a hedge.  

All in all a lovely few days away. Made by the hot tub and the places we visited. Have to say I am looking forward to a warm nights sleep tonight.

Good and bad

We booked a week from 11th March 2024 ‘
The site is in a nice location 
The Service on site left a great deal to be desired 
The advertised Dog Shower with heated water 
Was Freezing cold 
(Although it was reported to reception)
for the full week of our stay 
This was one of our reasons for picking this site as we were well aware that all walks were very muddy at this time of year!!
The Onsite Shop never seemed to be open and it wasn’t as advertised 9-5 
We often had to ring mobile no on booking form 
Which wasn’t good when you’re stood in the rain 
Dog field with amazing views 
But dog poo not picked up
Bin not emptied 
Found the staff to be unhelpful and not what were used to having toured elsewhere 
Plus it seemed that zero general maintenance work was being done on site  which was a suprise as it was desperately needed in parts 
Good bits

I wouldn’t recommend to friends or family

Service at Longnor wood holiday park

Fantastic campsite! 

To begin with, the site is absolutely spotless - well kept and no sight of litter. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The amenities were excellent, superbly clean toilets and showers which was a delightful surprise. The pitches were brilliant - we camped in a tent and couldn’t have asked for a better pitch with rabbits frequently sighted. And the sound of the birds in the morning. 

A great location with fantastic hikes and little villages a short distance away, which was exactly what we were looking for.

The only negative was the ‘lovely’ British weather which unfortunately brought our trip to an early end. However, we will definitely be back and potentially book one of their fantastic lodges they have. 

Couldn’t have asked for a better campsite! Thank you to the team at Longnor Wood Holiday Park.

This is our second stay and upgraded this time and still a fantastic lodge, clean and tidy home from home , we especially appreciated the wine and chocolates on arrival. We love the piece and quite, fantastic 

Totally relaxing

We chose the site as a Tranquil Site 5 star
The pitch
We booked early the pitch we were offered was beside the facilities with a total lack of private space.
Needless to say we did not accept this and was offered season pitch.
The pitch dropped off at the back by about 1000mm, this meant the van would have had to overhang by about 3m for our water hose to connect then we would have had the problem of stability. This was overcome by a resident lending us an extension. 
The Shop
This given is a Dog friendly site would not allow the dog to enter when checking in, Even though the range of food stuffs was non-existent.
The shop was not opening at the times on the board. It was therefore as useful as a Chocolate Tea Pot.
We chose to move our arrival to a day earlier being a Friday this we did by phone, we were suprised to be advise we had to pay an additional £2.00 which was requested immediately prior to arriving.
The only 5 Star about this site is the Dog Paddock, which is exceptional.
I would also add that the season pitch occupant were great, without thier hel we would have been stuffed.
Finally GOODNESS KNOWS WHERE THE Photo DISPLAY WAS FOUND, WE DIDNT SEE ANYTHING LIKE THIS.

Extremely Disappointing £2.00 extra

We had an amazing time.  

We had a great time, very peaceful and relaxing. friendly staff, great dog walking field and shower area . Enjoyed staying in camping pod, lots of great things to do with a short drive. 

Can’t wait to book up again.

Such a lovely surprise to find chocolates and biscuits as a welcome back and a doggies welcome pack as well. As usual the caravan was spotless and contained everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our friends were in the adjacent caravan and it was good to have enough crockery and cutlery for us all to eat together. Another fantastic holiday
