First time visiting The George & Dragon, went with my Hubby for our 5th wedding anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. The food was beautiful and served quicker than expected, staff were friendly. Will be returning

Been here 2day staff are so attentive and so nice
Meal was amazing staff are so friendly we paid £50 about meal pudding  barnsley chops to die for would very much to reommend this place 100%, .2 largers good experience  

Brill 

We live locally and visit regularly.. sometimes just for a drink but often end up having food too! The food is lovely.. our favourite is the tandoori chicken, but I can recommend the fish and chips and the Sunday lunch is good as well.. good sized portions.. never stayed in the accommodation but friends have and said it was clean and comfortable. We have had breakfast there several times and it’s delicious! The bar is dog friendly and the staff are happy for you to eat in there instead of the restaurant which is a bonus. Give it a try 👍🏼

Regular visitors..

visited here this week for lunch with my boyfriend. I had the fish and chips, he had the barnsley lamb chops (he has them every time we go because he LOVES them)
My fish and chips was amazing too. 
Everything was perfect. 
Would 100% recommend here to anyone. 
Thanks to all the staff who have good guidelines in place and still good service! 
Will be visiting again soon

Loved it

A typical English pub with a few rooms.  The bar area was quite run down and the room we stayed in (6) could do with a bit of TLC and a bigger TV in a better location.  However the food was excellent, both the evening meal of fish and chips and the really nice cooked breakfast.  Above all, the staff were friendly and chatty and made it a pleasant stay for one night.

After reading the reviews on here I was nervous about a two night stay at the George and Dragon but can honestly say that I really enjoyed my stay! I found all of the staff that I met really friendly and helpful, the food was delicious (had two evening meals and breakfast) and my room was clean and comfortable. The pub is dated and could do with a refurb which is a shame as I do think the appearance may put people off. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere affordable to stay

Pleasantly surprised

As I was attending Crufts dog show at the NEC in Birmingham I needed somewhere nearby to stay. 
The George And Dragon in Coleshill was competitively priced and had free parking so seemed ideal.
I booked two nights and was given a room with a double bed and a single.
It had a large shower cubicle in the bathroom and the shower worked well. 
The bedroom was big but headroom was a little compromised by the sloping ceiling. It didn't affect my use of the double bed though.
There were plenty of tea and coffee sachets by the kettle.
A good point, breakfast was served from 06:45 a.m on Sunday. This was very handy as I had an early start and needed to be at my destination by eight.
Breakfast was included in my stay and I had a decent cooked breakfast both mornings. This is served in the pub bar rather than their restaurant.
I ate two evening meals here. I had fish and chips one night in the restaurant and chicken curry the night after in the bar as the restaurant was packed it being Mothering Sunday.
No complaints with the food. I'd describe it as standard pub fare and not too expensive.
The pub has a large car park at the rear so the description of free parking is accurate.
The staff were polite and helpful.
After making my booking I read some negative reviews on here and that made me wonder if I'd made a mistake? My worries weren't borne out and I was happy with my stay. 
I'd use the George And Dragon again.
I felt the price I paid was fair for what I received in terms of accommodation and food.

Crufts weekend at the George And Dragon.

Oh dear.   Looked at their website  downloaded the menu  booked a table then went on Monday 24th August.   First -  menu had been changed - prices increased!!   eg  8 oz Gammon  up from £5.95 to £8.    Anyway ordered  Gammon and Veg lasagne.  Took 45 minutes even when pub half empty  ( 5,30pm).  Food ok    average.  Pint of IPA   £4.80!!  No i think some advantage being taken here!!!   I know pubs have had rough time during lockdown  but dont punish the customers!

eat out to help out

First thing you have to do is pass by the smokers in the doorway especially in the evenings. Smell is awful.
Once inside you can smell smoke. The lounge area is ok. We had food which was nice enough 
The younger staff seems nice. But the older guy who I presume is the owner need to smile more and be less abrupt.
On leaving the pub after our meal. Still smokers smoking right by the doorway with some guy urinating close by
Will not visit again.

Disappointing

Although quite busy at lunch time we found a table easily but the surroundings and carpets are shabby looking, not a place to impress anyone! The food took ages to arrive ( just baked potatoes and side salad) and was average. We were not rushed and felt able to chat in peace with a pot of tea, no alternative choice to whole milk though, we were not asked if all was ok after the food was served ( good job we were hungry!) And I would only go there again if passing!
