We stayed at George and Gemma's Guesthouse last year on our way down south to visit family so decided to stay again.  As like before we were made to feel very welcome and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning.  Gemma makes a first class breakfast much better than a 5* Hotel we stayed at a few months ago, I think I'll tell their chef he needs to take lessons from Gemma on how to cook a good Scottish Breakfast.
Anyway will definitely be stopping again on our next trip South and would definitely recommend the Gilkerscleugh.

Just want to wish George and Gemma all the best on their upcoming Wedding on the 10th of October.

Visiting a second timeExcellent Bed and Breakfast

The hospitality plus began from the moment George greeted me at the door. I'd missed a connection ("fatality on the line") and arrived late and without having had dinner. But George rang up the Colebrooke Arms, booked me a table, and drove me there himself. Such attention continued right through my two-night stay, with George's mother Audrey picking me up the next (wet!) night from the Colebrooke Arms and the next morning driving me to catch the bus to Edinburgh.

The cooked breakfast was excellent, with Gemma concerned to see that I had everything I needed. My spacious room, with two windows overlooking the surrounding fields, was comfortable, quiet and well-appointed.

All in all, a memorable stay in a marvellously different environment.

Hospitality plus!

We were returning from our holiday in Scotland, and planned ahead for a place to break our long journey home. The Tripadvisor reviews looked promising so we decided to give it a try. Hosts George and Gemma were very welcoming and helpful, so we settled in with the minimum of fuss.
The next morning w enjoyed Gemma's freshly-cooked vegetarian breakfast (the very comprehensive 'full Scottish' is available too), which set us up for the long journey ahead. 
Thank-you Gemma and George for a very pleasant stay. (And even the farm dogs are very friendly too!)

A short but very pleasant stay

Rare to see anywhere on Trip Advisor that no-one has disliked, so when we needed to book a B&B overnight on the way to Glasgow this farmhouse [with all 5star ratings on Trip Advisor] was the obvious choice.

We are very pleased that we did. We have stayed before at the nearby Days Inn Motel at the motorway service station - which in fairness is OK except for the breakfast - but Gilkerscleugh is a different thing. It is a working farm, run alongside the B&B by a very friendly family. The accommodation is homely with all the amenities one could reasonably ask for.

And a wonderful cooked breakfast. We had the "full Scottish" and it was perfect. Memorable! We shall be back I very much hope

[By direct contrast, the next morning we had our breakfast -yes another full Scottish-  at the Blythswood Square Hotel in Glasgow - a 5 star prestigious Hotel in a major European City with a completely different attitude to pricing! It was OK, but forgettable. Nowhere near as good as the home cooking at Gilkerscleugh]

We only stayed for the one night as we were on our way down to the lake district but we found everything first class.  George and Gemma were very friendly and welcoming and we had a very nice breakfast.  We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it.
