Lovely long weekend. David excellent host. We were advised the week before that breakfast available but not dinner. 
We decided to carry on (with obviously lower price than originally quoted) as we were able to use lounge day and night and bar early evening. There is a nice country pub 100 yards away with excellent food and another similar one about 1 mile away. 
Fifteen minute walk to cafe on the lake. Beatrix Potter's house 100 yards from hotel. Bus stop also for Hawkshead.

Relaxing long weekend

4 rating because the room we stayed in was beautiful, Esthwaite room, four poster bed, spa bath, beautiful view.  Staff are courteous.  The hotel is beautiful and the grounds in which it stands are stunning. The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of main villages, towns etc, which made our stay worse because of situations stated..., 
We were told upon arrival, Good Friday , that they didn’t have a chef for the weekend so no evening meals were available (at an extra cost to us) . We weren’t notified of this before arrival ( it would’ve been courteous to have been informed) and  we then found it quite difficult to find places to eat an evening meal nearby at short notice, given it being Easter weekend.  After returning to the hotel from an early Saturday evening meal elsewhere , we wanted to have a couple of drinks before retiring to our room, yet at 7.30pm the bar was closed ! 
It’s just gone  10pm on Easter Sunday we’re in our room and have been since 8pm, the bar again closed! When you stay in a place that is supposed to have the amenities to use , and not at a cheap rate I might add ,  but you can’t use them , I find it quite appalling. 
Would we stay again, I doubt it.

Beautiful setting and lovely hotel with wonderful hosts who provided the most gorgeous meals. Our room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable. Particularly loved the view from the window whilst in the jacuzzi bath. The only fault we could find was the only radiator was hidden by a sofa which probably meant the room didn't get as warm as it might have been but it didn't really affect our stay. We'd definitely recommend the hotel for a short stay in the beautiful Lake District. Breakfast and evening meals were stunning. Thanks

Nothing too much trouble for the friendly staff .
Perfectly situated for us with fantastic walks and looked forward to great meal in restaurant afterwards.

We had a two night "Winter Warmer Deal" stay in  11-12th March. This was our second visit, last visit was 12 years ago. We were on a DBB rate and the food was really good even although the dinner menu was quite limited. The chef Chris really turned out great tasty plates of food. Our highlights were the Salmon with Chimichurri sauce and Chocolate and "Toblerone" Cheesecake. 
Jodie the receptionist and Waitress was excellent and made a huge effort to try and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. On day two she made sure we had a "winter warmer" by lighting the open fire in the living-room so that we could have drinks before dinner and our desserts after dinner in a very cosy space. Thanks Jodie you were a star!!
In comparison to our first visit 12 years ago, we thought the hotel was still good value for money but had lost some of the sparkle that it had previously and is maybe time for some general "TLC" in the property.

Return visit to Sawrey House Hotel "Winter Warmer" !

My wife and I spent a very pleasant 3 days at this hotel on the 3 nights for 2 special offer. The room was very comfortable and the beds were excellent. We ate there for 2 nights and the food and service was very good, as was the breakfast. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
The hotel is next to Hilltop where Beatrix Potter lived and a visit there is a must. This is a great location for visiting the area.
We would certainly go back there if the opportunity arises.

Very pleasant

Third visit to Sawrey House and still as good as ever.  Lovely friendly efficient staff who go out of their way to make your stay perfect.  We were on the dinner bed & breakfast deal and this is fantastic value for money.  The lounge area is great for those rainy afternoons.  Will be back!

Another great visit

The Sawrey House Hotel is a superb little hidden gem. I booked there for my Wife’s 40th birthday and thankfully it did not disappoint. The four poster room we stayed in was clean and cosy looking out onto a stunning view of the hills and lake. The ‘stag’ wallpaper was unusual feature in the room which may not be for everyone but didn’t overly detract. 

The staff were very friendly and the 3 course meal on an evening was amongst some of the best food I’ve eaten. Well presented and very hearty. This was a highlight of our stay. 

The village of Near Sawrey is a great place to explore too, especially if you appreciate Beatrix Potter.

The only real negative I have to say about the hotel was the bathroom in our room could have done with refurbishment. It felt tired and worn and didn’t match the experience of the rest of the house. 

Other than that, we are already talking about when we can head back one day. 

Quiet weekend away…

Sawrey House Hotel is situated in a quiet little village and has the most spectacular views over the valley, Esthwaite Water and the hills beyond. I could look at it all day. We booked 4 nights DB&B early in the year after a bereavement and have looked forward to it all year. We were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming, cheery and helpful. The room was clean, with complimentary toiletries and refreshments. We loved the king sized 4-poster bed. The place has a peaceful, homely feel and we feel so blessed to have been able to stay. Would thoroughly recommend. 

A beautiful, quiet retreat.

My friend and I stayed at Sawrey House Hotel in September 2023 to celebrate my friends 70th birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very nice providing you with everything you needed on a mini break. The food was absolutely gorgeous, yum. On arrival we found a bottle of prosecco and chocolate coated strawberries in our room which was absolutely delicious , we enjoyed these in the sun on the beautiful terrace looking across the grounds., this was part of  the special deal we had booked. The ambience of the hotel is extremely relaxing and the outdoor areas all have beautiful, breath taking views. There is a small bar area serving a variety of drinks and a large lounge with comfortable chairs and settees. I couldn't fault anything in regards to our stay. Superb!
