My husband and I stayed in the first floor apartment for two nights which was so large that we initally thought it was some sort of mistake!  You should know that the decor is definitely *ahem* eclectic.  You should also plan on giving yourself an extra five to ten minutes before using the shower, since the controls are slightly less complicated than those in a rocket! 

Since I read reviews here and elsewhere before checking in, I knew that I had to go to the restaurant next door to register and get the keys. The entire process was very informal.  If the restaurant is closed, there will be a guard around in the area who can help.  (I don't think he speaks English.)

The staff at the restaurant is lovely and kind. You tell them the night before if you can't have breakfast in the restaurant--which doesn't open until 11--and they bring it to your room the night before.  We were happy with the bread and cheese and veggies, and didn't mind the instant coffee.  (If you want brewed coffee, there is a nice shop just next door to the gate.)

Location is great, and close to everything is the surprising wonderful city of Chernivsti.  I really do wish I had another day or two to enjoy the apartment and the city.

Knaus Apartments are located in the heart of Chernivtsi city. It is hidden in small nice backyard, so you don't hear noise from the central streets.
Apartments are big and comfortable. Wi-Fi works good. Personnel of the hotel and related restaurant is very kind and helpful. We were two couples in two different apartments which are on the same floor, so it is very convenient for big families.
The only small minus - hot breakfast is served at 11:00 at the restaurant. It would be nice to have it earlier. Nevertheless, at the request hotel brings you in the room cold breakfast (yogurt, croissant).
For tourists from EU prices in the hotel and local restaurants are very pleasant. 
I can recommend this place to everybody!

Perfect location!

The apartment complex is linked to the restaurant and is in the centre of Chernivtsi. The apartment is comfortably furnished and very spacious if a little kitsch. It was very good value for money. The staff were helpful and friendly.

There is no reception desk which can cause confusion, you obtain the key and pay for the room via the restaurant. This doesn’t open until 12 so can be a problem if you need something in the morning. The “breakfast” was a few slices of bread and some ham and cheese wrapped in clingfilm which wasn’t very appealing and a packaged croissant. There was also tea and coffee and a kettle. Although this is an apartment there was no kitchen area or facilities to prepare food. The TV only showed Ukrainian channels, there were no international English language channels available. The wi-fi was patchy at best.

A comfortable apartment in the centre of Chernivtsi

This place has pluses and minuses. We stayed two nights in a very roomy apartment with two TVs and a modern bathroom.  But the furnishings were old fashioned and a bit drab.
  The breakfast was brought the night before and was not appealing--packaged croissants, no coffee, an apple...  There is no front desk, you get your key at the bar.  There was no staff around either morning to answer questions or to take the keys when we left.  So don't expect hotel-like support.
  The location is excellent, two blocks below the main square, close to the the tourist information office.  It is in a courtyard, off the street, but the courtyard is open at both ends, so people are passimg through all day.  But it was quiet at night.  We had a tasty dinner at their restaurant.
  In summary, a quirky place, but not a bad place to stay.

One the one hand....

The Knaus apartments hotel is centrally located, easy to find, and comfortable.  The rooms look out into a courtyard, so they are quiet, so street noise.  The apartments include a living room with sat TV, one or two bedrooms, good wifi, and comfortable beds, about all one needs for a shorter or longer stay.  Breakfast is included, delivered to the room the previous evening, so bread, jam, yoghurt, boiled eggs, cheese, cold cuts, pretty much whatever you want that doesn't involve cooking in the morning.  A refrigerator and electric kettle are in the apartment, so snacks or coffee & tea can be made whenever you like.
