The Hotel was not  that expensive, was comfortable and clean. i liked it because I could walk or take a tram car anywhere I wanted to go. I did not find it noisy, and it was clean and comfortable. I suppose, that there are people that work there that would overcarge a person from America, believing we are rich(and we are compared to them) but if you ask for prices before you go and get reservation prices it might be best. I had a ukrainian friend with me so she knew if I was being overcharged or not. It is a good place to stay, and I liked the view for it looked south toward Romania, and the northerly direction looked over the city from the highest floor.

A nice, helpful, quiet place to stay

Verry outdated and verry expensive hotel.
When we stayed here, there was some convention going on and they charged outrageous prices for the room.
It looked like the rooms where never been renovated.
The breakfast I would not even serve to my dog.



Terrible

A massive Soviet era hotel on outskirts of town. Frequent (and very cheap) tram to centre. View of desolation from my room! Very noisy at night (if window left open) with drunks outside.

Hotel could be used as a museum to how things used to be in the Soviet Union!! I quite enjoyed the retro feel, but would not have wanted to stay more than the one night we were there.

Room was decked out in 1970/80 style, with red dial phone etc. Shower did not seem to have hot water.

Breakfast was put on, it seems, just for our group, in an otherwise completely deserted restaurant. It was fine, not a buffet though, so awkward asking for veggie options (did not go hungry, plenty of quantity).

I also found an un-advertised (empty of customers) basement old-style cafeteria, straight from Soviet times, with  very cheap food, which was actually OK. Not for a romantic meal, though....

Very strange place, can't see how it makes any money!! judging by the very few people staying here.

Old Soviet Retro!

I visited Chernivtsi many times because it’s a nice town not far from the Romanian border. Last autumn I visited with a group of friends and the next day we visited the nice fortress of Hotin.
Hotel Cheremosh was an unpleasant surprise.

Hard to think of anything, only the potential. It’s clear it was an imposing, large and modern hotel … twenty years ago.

The location, a bit far to walk to the center but easy to reach by car or public transportation; 
A nice, large open market near the hotel.
Minus
The coldest hotel rooms I’ve ever been;
Old furniture and carpets;
The restaurant looks deserted; it seemed they opened it especially for our group.
The security guy in the main lobby dressed as a civilian is only one of the many reminiscent of the soviet period. I considered him a hotel attraction, I mean it’s interesting to watch him walking near the small groups of tourists and listening to what they are talking, and then walking away with suspicious looks.
I felt cold, a cold hotel with cold rooms coming from a “cold war” era.

Unused potential

We have been spending the last week of December 2009 at Hotel Cheremosh in Chernovtsi (in a junior suite). On some tourist websites and the Hotel's website (www.cheremosh.com.ua) Cheremosh is promoted as the 'best' hotel in town with very good service. However, we were rather surprised about the apparent lack of managerial efforts to make the (few) tourists feel comfortable in the 'Hotel Complex':

•	Our stay began with unfriendly, old personnel that was unable to enter our details correctly into their computer or database although I have booked online weeks before.
•	The room was freezing cold and despite efforts from hotel technicians to resolve these problems the heating did not work at all - the heating has been switched on only for 5min after the technician appeared. In fact, we were provided with electrical heaters that should do it. According to the technician this is due to the problems with hot water supply by the city from 7pm-9am. But why so are they able to use hot water in the washing machines throughout the day?  We think that the management of Cheremosh tries to save money not caring about the well-being of their guests. This was also enforced by the fact that the Hotel Interior (even the Christmas tree) was dark all day and no lights switched on.
•	The first 'buffet' breakfast (approx. 7€ pp.) was served in a Soviet-style cantine in the cellar of the Hotel and was absolutely dissatisfying. Cold meat and Kasha together with cheese and sausage was the 'full buffet' breakfast advertised on their website. Definitely a NO-GO! After complaining to the receptionists we have had breakfast in the Hotel's Restaurant. However, even there seats and tables were not cleaned up in the morning from the night before and we had to wait 30min until coffee was served. 
•	The telephone was not working and the problem was not resolved by the Hotel although other guests could use their telephone. Is this standard in a Junior Suite room?

In the end we were absolutely dissatisfied with this hotel and particularly with the service offered. It seems that the management (a blond lady) does not bother about their guests and about the image the hotel does give to their guests.

An alternative could be Hotel Bukovina (a bit closer to the town centre), Knaus or even private accomodation that might be cheaper.
