Almost 20 months after our last visit in early June we've spent another week at Velena. Again, everything was as lovely as we've remembered. Actually, the newly renovated bathrooms were a nice surprise. OK the weather was not so nice (the coldest early June anyone can remember) but we can't blame Ahmet Bey for that. For us it is the warm and friendly welcome and service we receive from all the staff which makes Velena unique. It is not a four star holiday resort and it does not claim to be one as I've stated in my previous reviews. It is small, clean with tasty food options, a comfy café/bar/restaurant area and a nice beach dock for sun bathing and swimming. A sad ending to our holiday was that my 89 y.o. mother who was also with us during our holiday passed away unexpectedly the night we came back. The heartfelt condolences we have received from every single person in Velena has confirmed our view that it is a home away from home for us. We will always have great memories of our last large family holiday....
