Pelagos Beach Otel in Bozcaada

The only reason we chose to stay at Pelagos was the fact that we were travelling as a large family and needed to make everyone happy. So if you are travelling as a group and want to be close to the centre of town (you can almost walk, 15-20 minutes), stay somewhere with on site beach access and pool and be served food and drinks while sunbathing this seems to be the only option. However, if you want to truly experience Bozcaada, I would suggest to stay in one of the smaller family run establishments in town and visit the beautiful beaches around the island.
The quality of accommodation was below average at Pelagos. The drain smell coming from the bathrooms was not pleasant at all.

Crowd pleaser in Bozcaada

We were completely disappointed with this venue. The staff was courteous enough but this the only highlight. Rooms were not ready on arrival and smelled bad. Everything was seriously overpriced. Did not receive the rooms we booked. I could rant forever but I think my point has been achieved!

Total letdown

I booked this hotel on Laterooms as a final extravagance at the end of a long tour of Europe.  For the price (around £130 per room per night) we were expecting something really special so we felt very let down by our experience.

We had booked two rooms, for two nights, one for my husband and me and one for our adult daughter and her boyfriend.  Our room was ok, a bit disappointing but adequate but our daughter's room hadn't been serviced (this was around 7pm) and the bed was unmade, there were dirty plates with food still on them, the toilet was unclean, the bathroom bin overflowing and a tampon wrapper on the floor.

I *know* that other people stay in hotel rooms before you but the trick (especially at £130 a night) is to make it look like they don't.

When we reported this to reception the staff member was frankly unbelieving and said that she didn't know what she was going to do because the cleaning staff had all gone home....  We just smiled and went out for dinner saying that this would give her enough time to sort it out.  It was clean by the time we were back but no apology.

The next morning we'd planned a swim and a relax but the pool looked like it had green algae floating in it so we gave it a miss (so did everyone else!) and settled down on the sunloungers at the edge of the sea, which was idyllic and exactly what we were hoping for until the banging R & B music came on and really ruined the peaceful atmosphere.  I know lots of people like this so if it's what the general clientele want then I'm not complaining, it just wasn't what we were hoping for so we went across the island to a tiny little beach and silence!

When we got back, with the aid of Google Translate, the receptionist told us that she'd 'had to make a very difficult decision' (we never really found out why) and had moved all our things lock stock and barrel out of our two rooms into a shared family room, with just one bathroom between us, two single beds in the very small adjoining room, no airconditioning in the smaller room and a view over the car park.

The thought of someone handling all of our personal belongings without asking, the inappropriateness of sharing with our daughter and her boyfriend and the lack of aircon in 90 degrees was enough to make us very unhappy and we only eventually agreed when she waived the cost.

The next morning as we checked out she gave us a bar bill for around £30 and took a lot of persuading that we hadn't had anything from the bar - 'I don't know who drank this beer then....'  -  and tried to charge us for the third night she said that we'd booked and had to print out the booking before she'd believe us.

Later that day, the next time we had wifi we received an email from Laterooms saying that the hotel had contacted them about a third night no show and would we like to comment....  This was around ten minutes after we'd left!

All in all a beautiful location, an average hotel and appalling customer service.
