My son and I stayed at the Mawe Tented Camp and the Ngu Camp in late August 2024. We were booked for a 4 day, 3 night safari after a long and arduous 8 day trek up Mount Kilimanjaro. So we were hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable few days in the Serengeti. Mawe didn't disappoint. We were picked up at our hotel in Moshi by our safarai guide, Bonneface, who turned out to be not only a great safari guide but also a great story teller and interpreter for us of Tanzanian culture. The camps, deep in the Serengeti, were fantastic. The food was excellent, the camp staff was warm and hospitable and the tents were comfortable and provided us the rest we needed. Nothing compares to a sunrise in the Serengeti! We looged over 1000 kms in 4 days, saw amazing animals including part of the great m igration of wildebeast across the Mara River, visited the incredible Ngorongoro Crater and Oldupai Gorge and just had a fantastic time. None of this would have been possible without our amazing safair guide Bonneface who went out of his way to provide us with an unforgettable experience. My son and I had an experience we'll never forget with Mawe and Bonneface. I can't recommend them highly enough. Than you for the memories!

Amazing Experience with Mawe Tented Camp and Safari Guide Bonneface

It was the best lodge that my family and I did! 
The service was amazing, all of the employees were welcoming and very gentle. The food was excellent and authentic. Everything about our stay was truly wonderful.

Amazing experience and Lodge

Frank was friendly and more importantly took great care to make us  comfortable and well taken care of. One of our tents had a problem with the hot water faucet.  Frank made sure it was taken care of immediately. Buffet meals were delicious and plentiful. Staff was respectable and helpful.

I highly recommend this camp.

From the moment I reached out to Mawe to inquire about staying at the property, it was excellent and responsive customer service.  Isabella was amazing arranging our reservation and answering any questions we had prior to our departure.  She arranged travel for us from Arusha to camp, and a fantastic private guide for the three days we were on safari - Mr. Bonny from Kilidove (I will be writing another review on how incredible he was!)

LOCATION: Mawe is a serene camp in the middle of the Serengeti. it is a LONG drive (8+ hours) from Arusha (next time I would look at flying instead of driving) but the drive there through the Ngorongoro Crater and seeing tons of animals was worth it.  At the camp, you are truly with the animals. At night we heard lions and hyenas, and watched a herd of 500+ buffalo march across the plain during lunch one day.  

ACCOMMODATION: When we arrived, we were greeted by Dorio and other members of the Mawe team, who helped carry our bags to our tent (Twiga) which consisted of three twin beds for my husband, son and myself.  Each bed had its own mosquito net. The tent was wonderful, with a shower, toilet and sink and plenty of room for the three of us.

FOOD: The food at Mawe was delicious. Each meal at camp was served buffet style, and there were plenty of options for both meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Dinner eat night started with a soup and then there were a number of foods to choose from. Drinks from the bar such as beer and soda were an additional cost, but it was incredibly reasonable. While out on safari drives during the day, we had a packed lunch that was yummy consisting of typically a meat dish, a grain and some type of salad. There was always plenty to choose from and more food than you can eat!  

SERVICE: I can't say enough about the service at Mawe. Each staff member went out of their way to make our stay amazing, down to a birthday cake for my son who was turning 14 and singing for him to celebrate.  I would highly recommend Mawe and we look forward to going back int he near future.

Amazing location in the heart of the Serengeti!

We spent 3 nights in Mawe Camp for our honeymoon and can just say „thank you“ for this amazing experience! Apart from the excellent service, the spot where the camp is located blew our minds. The stay exceeded all of our expectations (from seeing a hyena close to the campfire at dawn to be standing eye to eye with an elephant outside our tent).
In addition it is a great place to start your daily excursions in Serengeti. Thanks again to the amazing team! Asante sana!

Incredible honeymoon!

Best value for money. Comfortable, clean, cozy tents in an area teeming with abundance of wildlife. Away from the chaotic Central Serengeti, quietness of nature can be absorbed. The staff is extremely accommodating, professional. Delicious home cooked african dishes. Highly recommended

This is the second time I've stayed at the Mawe Tented Camp and it was wonderful once again.  Food has greatly improved from 5 years ago and the tents are as cozy and comfortable as my last stay!  Everyone was super friendly and helpful and we had walkie talkies to communicate with those running the camp in case we needed something after dark.  No more swinging a lantern after dark although that was charming on my last stay.  I would definitely stay here again.  We didn't hear lions in the night this time but they were nearby along with cheetahs and so much wildlife to see on our morning and evening game drives!  Truly a dream!  Thank you to all the staff!

Another wonderful stay at Mawe Tented Camp!

We were at Serengeti   Mawe Tented Camp from  13 th to 15th  October 2023,  for a safari  for  8 days in Tanzania and following a 6 days in Kenya . We continue our  beautiful safari  itinary  in Tanzania in the national park of Serengeti center Tanzania . The Serngeti Mawe Tented camp  was our second one to visit in Tanzania . We were greatly greeted by the chief staff of the camp that was so handsome.  We really enjoyed our stay of two days at this authentic and beautiful and peaceful tented camp with beautiful views of the plains with incredible and spectacular  sunrise and sunset every day. We  were very few visitors at this time of the year.  Our tent named  Simba  that was very well situated . This luxury tent is so confortable and we slept so well with the moskito net. We could take our shower with hot water and bottle water is provided.  Everything that you need is in the lodge. All the meals were outstanding  serve outside with incredible view of the stars,  with a bonfire, the others meals served  inside of the dining and lounge. Each day, the staff is at our service. All the staff are so accomodating and are always there for our needs or questions, There was always a member of the staff to accompany us from our tent or to return at dark as we were living with the wild animals, as lions or hyenas  that could be around, We really  felt always very safe there even at nights. We really recommend the Serengeti Mawe tented  camp so well located in the sensational national park of Serengeti to do the games drive for many hours and coming back to rest late afternoon. The lunch provided each day from the chef were exceptional.   We were so lucky to see so many animals  and see so close to us the lion King , lioness, cheetahs , Zebras, Girafe ,elephants in the magnificent scenery of the Serengeti. The staff of Serengeti  Mawe Tented Camp  will always stayed in our hearts.

Such a magical place. We spent 2 nights here. The staff was amazing. The accommodation were lovely. We had such a lovely time in the camp. Can’t wait to return some day. The food was great. Service and staff made our stay wonderful
