The location is absolutely stunning, first of all. But the two running the hostel are some of the nicest and coolest people ive ever met. They speak English well and theyve been so helpful with whats around the area as well as all around Taiwan. They have international power sockets too, which makes it easy to charge right away. And the breakfast was amazing!! I couldve eaten so much!! It was taiwanese breakfast (taiwan pancake, hoon pancake, soup, coffee/tea) and was worth so much. I highly recommend staying here and exploring the area! Or just relax at the beautiful hostel!

5 star hostel

Set in a beautiful mountainside location, with a view of the sea and surrounding forest. Ann and Amy are brilliant, practically planning all of my days in Jiufen and cooking diet-specific breakfasts. The local buses and trains are easy and cheap and there are hiking trails just a walk away.

Definitely one of the best hostels I’ve been to so far. Comfy with a great view! The hostel ist simpel but very clean and neat. The owners, Amy and Anna, are so nice and very helpful when it comes to planning a trip or a hike. 
The (traditional) breakfast is outstanding for a hostel and a real relief after the standard toast and jam breakfast. 


Really great hostel!

I didn't know what to expect from this hostel before I got there, but I have been thoroughly captivated by it. The location is absolutely breathtaking. You have to walk down a few stairs to get there, but the view from the glass house is absolutely amazing; I have never felt more at peace than eating (a freshly cooked!) breakfast there, looking out over the mountains. On top of that, Amy and Ann are by far the friendliest and most helpful hostel hosts I've encountered anywhere. They speak great English, and they are incredibly knowledgeable about the area and happy to help you figure out how to get the most out of your stay in Jiufen. They are also super attentive from the time that you book to the time that you leave, and have a great sense of humor. Between the friendly hosts, the beautiful views, and the peaceful vibe (there is no alcohol allowed, which I liked because it made it very calm and relaxing), it's easily my favorite that I've stayed anywhere in Taiwan, and I keep finding reasons to return there. I've already been there twice with friends and with family, and have already planned another trip to take my dad up to Jiufen.

Friendly staff, comfort bed, and silent at night, but need to line up for shower, especially at around 10pm. Around 10-15 minutes walk and stairs to the old street

Very hospitable

Great spot, very welcoming hosts and full of lots of useful information. Breakfast was great and fantastic view!!! It’s down steps into it (150 or so) and the walk back up is fine as the step are in sections with flatter part between. Enjoy it!

Just do it!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. They were very serviceminded. Provided description to the hostel in advance, told me about nearby activities and sightseeings, showed me timetable of trains.
