We stayed at this property under the name of GuestHouse 71 and it was perfect for a visit to kandy and the surrounding areas. 

We stayed for two nights, had hot showers, great Wi-Fi. And best of all our host was the most helpful and friendly i met on my trip. She helped us with working out the most efficient/comfortable/cheapest ways to visit places within kandy and surrounding areas and our onward travel. If she didn't know about one trip she asked that we let her know the details so she could pass that advice on to her other guests. 

She also allowed us to leave our large rucksacks for a few nights at no extra charge and collect them when we next cane back through kandy. 

Great location, short walk in to town, close to local shops For water and snacks. Short walk to big Buddha and temple on the hill nearby. 

Best host in Sri lanka

This was a last minute booking. We tried cancelling it but the owner didnt bother to do it, confirm the cancellation, called many times didnt pick up the phone. We dont have a choice but to show up. Luckily when we get there she allowed as to be in the more ventilated room.

We requested for a nice view you will see just the neighbour. A bit difficult to find just remember on top of the Montessori School.The rooftop would be nice if it was well maintained. Guest could have some breakfast right there.

I guess the photos needs some updating! More realistic to avoid some frustration.The map tells you 8 minutes walk however since its located uphill it was 15minutes walk down to the center where the clock tower. Its ok to walk at night but not alone.Just pay for your comfort and safety, ride a tuktuk.There are areas that is no street lights.

The room has got a fan barely gives an air. A water heater on the shower was perfect. It was 2 single bed put together.🤔

Just OK...nothing fancy

The room looked nice enough at first but we were fooled. Hot and stuffy with no fan, and the bathroom was a no go area. The bath was disgusting and had to wear my flip flops to take a freezing cold shower. Dinner was ok, but breakfast was a let down. We asked for a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast when given the option and got scrambled egg on toast - not very Sri Lankan to me? The welcome drink was a nice touch and the family were lovely but I wouldn't recommend staying here. 

Nice people, not so nice place 

We had booked two nights here after seeing the photos on booking.com. 

When we saw the room we realized we just couldn't stay there. Room was dark, bathroom was leaking ..yes they still weren't ready for us to check in because we had arrived really early but the room looked nothing like the photos.

We found an alternate place to stay in. 

The only good thing was that after a lot of discussion the host agreed to take only half the cancellation fee.

I understand that they must have felt bad with our reaction to their home but then they should clearly show the real pics of the room. It probably is great for someone on a tight budget and is okay with a roof over their heads. It wasn't for us.

Looks nothing like the pictures

Woke up and my clothes that I hung up on the table were damp ! Walls were wet and it smelled !! 
Woman was not nice to talk to as other people have said , she try's to scam as many rupee's out of you that she can! 
Checked out early , never said goodbye ! 



Damp, smelly and terrible service 

Firstly the host...On arrival after a long day travelling, all we wanted was to drop off our bags and go get some food. Unfortunately our host had other ideas, she interrogated us on our plans for our time in Kandy even though we had said we were playing it by ear and had no firm plans yet. We told her a few things that we wanted to do and how we planned to get there but we're made to feel stupid by her condescending manner. She tried and failed to make us take taxis everywhere so that she could gain more money out of us, pushed "experiences" that we HAD to do otherwise it wasn't worth coming at all. All in all her customer service is very poor. 

Secondly the room...After about 45 mins we were finally shown to our room and we were so disappointed. It was nothing like the pictures and the whole room had an unfinished look! Unnoticable at first due to the room having a brand new air freshener being opened but after about an hour there was an OVERWHELMING smell of damp. The walls were painted, but you could still see the mould coming through. The bathroom looked nice, but we didn't have 1 hot shower between us in 3 days. The damp was the biggest problem though. In the morning our clothes and even the bed was damp and cold. It was basically a grotty, rank hole. We checked out early and didn't even ask for our money back. The only positive was the friendly shop owner at the bottom of the road! Do not stay here.
