This is a great hotel with nice service and tasty meals. We stayed here three days. I like the location it is situated and nice view of the Indian Ocean. the rooms of the hotel is very clean and nice. the service they provided was fantastic.

What a relaxing hotel

If you are looking to stay here then you may, or may not be, disappointed to learn that Sunils beach and it' s hairy eared Adam's family staff are no more. The hotel has been completely revamped by a millionaire Colombo playboy whose Ferrari s and Hummers (2) you can ogle at along with all the locals in the parking space outside. It is certainly a lot brighter outside, gleaming new exterior and a fancy takeaway restaurant.

Sunil's beach is now called the Avenra Beach, there's another in Negombo, which is a bit more expencive at $120 dollars a night. The rooms aren't a great size but gone is the dark miserable furniture and the dark dank rooms. cockroaches and cobwebs, For that price you get lovely crisp White bedlinen, designer bathrooms, comfy beds and all the usual accoutrements of a classy place. There is a new swimming pool and restaurant too, It looks lovely, pity I'm on a Budget ....

Goodbye Sunils Beach

It´s true that Sunils Beach Hotel must have seen better days. The rooms were OK but for this price you can get a much better room in Sri Lanka. The kids loved the pool and we loved that we could walk to the sea. The restaurant beside the hotel played litle to loud some nights. It´s true that the hotel is a bit from the center. But we liked to walk to the center and shopping. The it was 150 Rs for a Tuktuk back. If the offer us a better price next time I could return to this hotel.

A OK hotel but a overpriced hotel

It is a not that bad hotel for Sri Lanka standards. It is cheap to use their swimming pool, you can access a nice beach from the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A bit of renovating would be badly needed. Bathroom is a bit shabby, and the furniture is not that nice either.

Could be better

My husband and son came here to use pool while I did some shopping..we where staying inland at a private villa so came into town to spend some time near the beach.

i joined them later for lunch and thank god I did not order....it was pretty nasty.Calamari was like rubber and my husband did't even touch his salad,one look was enough.

My first impressions of the place was dirty,old and very rundown.The pool area had lots of broken beds and just looked grim.Thank god I wasn't staying here!!! What a pity as it was on a nice bit of beach.We ended up leaving(after paying for dreadful food that wasn't eaten) and eating at another place on down the beach.
