I had stayed at the beginning of  2024.  I spend my trip days very freely. With natural air I feel like a heaven. They have big rooms with large balconies. Staff is also very friendly and supportive. They help us to find out some uncommon beautiful plces to visit in ella also. I can't forget the taste of their meals. Samadhi nature resort is the best hotel when you focusing mainly about the freedom and the food. Little Adams peek and 9 arches are very near to here. So it was very easy to me to save money from tuks. If I come again Ella with our family. Exactly I will come this hotel again.

Freedom in Ella

Located away from the 'main strip', but good for the walk to Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adams' Peak.
To get to the entrance, there's a very steep slope up.
My room was on the 2nd storey (via external steps), and looks out over trees.
The room had 2 double beds, both with mossie nets (not needed, as it was quite cold). The bed was relatively comfortable.
Unfortunately, the bathroom let the room down a little with a very poor shower (lack of pressure, and warm water at best).
Breakfasts were plentiful, and the host was very pleasant.


A handy spot for walking

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay @ Samadhi Nature Resort. Tucked into the side of the hill amongst tall trees and nature.  

Very friendly, welcoming and serves delicious and an abundance amount of food.  

Beautiful and comfortable room.

Clean and quiet place

Must visit stay in Ella! Surrounded by Nature a very beautiful spot to stay.. very affordable too. The overall service is very nice, not to forget the owner Samantha is very welcoming!

Wonderful & Safe place to stay

You will want to stay here, when you visit Ella. The family run hotel is the greatest. They helped us find our ways around the trails ( Little Adams peak, Nine arch bridge - both within walking distance) so we didn’t need a guide . The rooms were very Nice, clean, Big and we had a great view from our terrasse. The family was so so Nice and they make a great breakfast. It is within walking distance from the city center with little on the road side.

The best stay in Ella

Pros 

- Staff were the friendliest and most helpful people we came across during our time in Sri Lanka. They organised a taxi for us to get to Udawalawe and called around a few people to ensure we got the best  price.

- Good Location just a short walk to Little Adams peak, Nine Arch Bridge and to the main high street. If you didn’t fancy the walk back up the hill from the centre Tuk Tuk was only around 300 Rupees. 

- Drink on arrival - great after the long train journey from Kandy.

- The gardens are well maintained. 

- Good price, budget guest house. 

Cons 

- Guest house is located on a busy road, on a hill so we heard traffic revving up the hill throughout the night. The walls were also very thin so we could hear the people in the room next to us talking. 

- Shower pressure was poor and it takes a little while for the water to warm up.

Friendliest staff

Our stay at Samadhi Nature Resort was one of the highlights to our holiday in Sri Lanka. I'd highly recommend that anyone visiting Ella or the surrounding area chooses this lovely place. 

It's not really a resort us such but more a small family-run guesthouse in an attractive old/colonial-style building - with high ceilings, tasteful decor, clean airy rooms. There's a small surrounding garden, where they have taken care to maintain old trees, cinnamon plants etc. One of our favourite things to do during our stay was just sitting on the balcony/verandah area outside our room, listening to the tropical birds and taking in the views of the surrounding Ella hills. 

In terms of the decor and the ambience alone, it already felt like good value for the very reasonable price we were paying. But what makes this place really stand out is the excellent service we received from our lovely hosts, Tharindu and his mother - which consistently went above and beyond. They are such sweet people, and were clearly anxious to know their guests were having a good time. We found they were always available to give us helpful advice when we needed it/help us arrange trips in the surrounding area. Also worth noting that their neighbour has a tuk-tuk and was happy to take us on short- and long-distance trips around the area at pretty short notice - which was convenient. 

And the food...oh my goodness the food. The breakfast (cooked by Tharindu's mother) was outstanding - and she is also happy to prepare dinner too on request, which was equally excellent (a huge range of curries and Sri Lankan dishes, always giant portions). With the exception of one night where there was a power cut in the local area, we always chose to have dinner at the guesthouse because why would you not when the food is this good!

Wonderful hosts and excellent value

Very welcoming and friendly host. 
We asked for traditional dinner and she made that for out 9 people group, so delicious. Amazing breakfast. Clean rooms, amazing nature around, walking distance to the center. Def will come again 💛

Feels like home

Samantha was really friendly  and helpful and gave good Information about the local bus to us. She served a well tasting tipically breakfast.
We stayed in the room upstairs, which was a little dark  because of all the trees around. It was very big in srilankan style  with two comfortable beds. It was just a little dusty on some boards, the bathroom and the floor were clean. Good walkig distance to ella town.

Nice host

The hotel is on a mountain bit difficult to steep climb by a vehicle. Rooms are average.
Rooms did not have proper hot water and the water pressure was very low.
Had to ask for towels only one towel was given to two occupants. Anyway, we used our own towels.
The owner is running the business with the mother he was very attentive to all our requirements. arranging Tuk-tuk to 9 Arch bridge and arranging delivery of food from out.
The breakfast was good.
