Once again on our 14th trip to S.A. we stayed with Jane, Anna, Irene and Caroline at Melville Manor.  It is like coming home, everything is lovely especially the upgraded rooms. Thank you so much for looking after us and hopefully when the world has got over this terrible virus we will be able to return next year.

For 10 years we stay in Melville Manor, Each stay is a marvellous time .Everything is done for each of us: For breakfast they cooked what you choose.. We travel for an NGO and recommand to choose this place.

a quiet and warm place

I absolutely love the bed and breakfast vibe, and Melville Manor is somewhere I would recommend to anyone passing through Joburg. The staff were so friendly, the b&b was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. I looked forward to it every morning! Support these ladies if you’re ever in the area

Awesome place to stay

We loved staying at Melville Manor. Beautiful home and garden in a lovely location, close to great shops and restaurants. There was no electricity on the afternoon in which we stayed and therefore no internet and the pool wasn't really usable but everything else was great.

Lovely, comfortable property in a great location.

Everything was nice except the upkeep of the plunge pool and the fact that the kitchen was out of bounds. Since it is not safe, especially for women, to walk around in Joburg at night, I would have liked to be able to cook a simple dinner on the premises. The color pattern in greys and greens was soothing and I liked the high ceilings.

A sweet house in Melville.

Very lovely accommodation with good breakfasts and calm and charming atmosphere, beautiful garden, nice pool area. The house is situated very close to all the restaurants and bars, sometimes it can be a bit too noisy at night, but good enough.

Always feel at home

Well my boyfriend and I wouldn’t know, as the owner had double booked our room and instead placed us in a nearby accommodation. This new accommodation was far from what we had booked and paid for, old, rusty, dirty and unsafe. We were so disappointed! Unfortunately, we were left with no choice but to stay there as we arrived 15 min before sundown during load shedding and the alternative was the streets of Johannesburg. The owners excuse for not contacting us in advance was that she thought we were traveling and didn’t have WiFi, we believe she just didn’t want to refund us the money we had paid for the accommodation. Surely, had we been warned in advance we would have asked for a refund and found a new accommodation on our own. We were traveling with a shuttle that day with full access to WiFi and a driver with a local number who also could have helped us. Mistakes happen and we understand that, but the way the owner handled the situation was unprofessional and not very service minded, we should have been contacted and we should have been offered an alternative at least living up to the standard of what we had booked. We are frequent visitors to South Africa and this could have been a multi visit place, now we can guarantee we will never come back nor will we ever recommend this place. Go ahead and book, take a chance, you might be lucky enough to actually get what you pay for. 

How is it staying here?

Fantastic place to stay in Jozi, very urban and relaxed but also fairly safe neighbourhood! The staff ist lovely! They are very helpful in providing any information you need! The rooms are absolutely clean, quiet and charming!

Nothing to complain at all

Very neat and safe place. Very helpful and friendly people. Bedding and bathroom utensils are clean and changed on time. Great atmosphere which helps to relax body and sole. What is really awesome of the guest house are their security features. It is easily accessible and within close proximity of shops.

Excellent stay.  The staff were extremely helpful and ensuring that all needs met.  Set up was brilliant to facilitate the fact that I had to come and go at odd times of the day and night.  Will definitely use them again.
