Perfect location backing on to Florida Road with its plethora of restaurants.  Tennis courts in Mitchell Park 2 minutes away at the top of the road and Royal Durban golf course a 15 minute walk in the other direction.
Amazing tropical garden (the monkeys from the park were regular visitors) cultivated over 30 years by the welcoming owners.  
We had a large room with loads of storage space.  The b'n'b is very spacious with lounges, terraces, pools, a bar area and a breakfast room.
Freshly made breakfast to order from the wonderful Theresa and Celia including splendid home made muffins.  
Excellent housekeeping and laundry done on request for a small charge.
And the service is exceptional.  Our aircon malfunctioned and Bea, the manageress, immediately offered an alternative room and phoned a tradesperson.  We were happy to accept a fan temporarily depending on how long a repair might take.  The following day we returned to a brand new airconditioning unit. 
We walked locally but if you need a taxi to go further afield Bea can give the number of the wonderfully reliable Jared who also took us to the airport.  Bea got up at 05.00 to see us off!  Service indeed.
And all this for a fraction of the cost of other places I researched before booking.
We were looked after for 3 weeks as though we were family.  Thank you.

You won't find better

My friend and I spent three nights at the start of our KZN holiday as well as our last night at this lovely guesthouse in Windermere. We were very impressed by the friendly management - thanks again Bee!! - and loveld the lush green garden. Room 6 is bright and comfortable with a good A/C and a ceiling fan. It has a good size bathroom and excellent bed. A great place to start the holiday and get used to the Durban climate. 
The location is super: you can walk (safely) to the beach in about 30 minutes and there are plenty of restaurants just round the corner in Florida Rd and Innes Street. Behind the guesthouse are a couple of parks.
The guesthouse has a nice terrace and a cosy bar area. There is secure parking on the property.
For our last night we were upgraded to two separate rooms (5 and 8) which were a bit smaller than the large double but very comfortable and quiet. 
It takes about 30 minutes by car from the airport and Beatrice arranged for a reliable taxi transfer. 
The MyThai is excellent value for money and I will happily stay there again on my next visit to Durban.

Lush gardens, excellent location

We stayed for one night in a beautifully furnished and appointed bedroom that would not have been out of place in a 5 star hotel. Friendly hosts, manager and staff and a slap-up English breakfast enjoyed in a breakfast room set in an enchanted tropical garden. With two swimming pools, off-street parking and direct access to both Innes and Florida Roads, Mythai Guesthouse is a must for the discerning visitor looking for real value for money

Best value in Morningside

We stayed for 2 nights in total, one night before and one night after our MSC cruise. The owners and manager were most welcoming and kindly accomodated us with an early arrival. Our room was large, airy and very comfortable with a view over the well kept tropical garden. The lounge area with plenty of magazines and outdoor decked area was a great spot to relax and order a fresh brewed coffee.
We enjoyed the English breakfast made to order and the freshly baked bran muffins were a treat. Do try one of their onsite produced Thai enspired sauces with your beakfast. With just the sound of the birds in the garden, it was hard to believe that just outside the gate was Florida Rd, with all it's trendy bars and restaurants (shops and a bank) right on the doorstep.It was a perfect location, we felt safe to walk around at night. All in all, a much more comfortable experience to a large hotel. We would not hesitate to stay here again when next in Durban!

Perfect stay ....

Wonderful little getaway hidden in the city. Close to all amenities, yet while staying at the guesthouse you feel like you've stepped into a bit of paradise. Beautiful gardens, friendly staff and great breakfast.

Great Getaway

Great location, beautiful tropical setting, close to beach and many tourist attractions in Durban, as well as close to business center so very convenient for conference and travel. Great staff who are very friendly and helpful. Especially the reception. Wonderful breakfast served daily.

Beautiful cozy guesthouse

I booked myself and 4 colleagues into My Thai due to the rave reviews, but we were extremely disappointed.....

All that was similar to the pics were the gardens which are exquisite!  As for the rest ...... a major revamp is overdue! It is old and tired!

The hostess was very pleasant, but the facilities are basic! 

Not a place we will return to.

TLC required!

We were booked in here by local friends and liked it very much. It is a kaleidoscope of rooms set in a subtropical garden with plants windows. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern. The manager was friendly and helpful and luckily a strong young man was on hand to help carry luggage up a few sets of stairs. The breakfast and bar areas looked charming and we were just sorry we had so little time to spend here.

Charming subtropical hideaway

We stayed here for two nights recently and really enjoyed our time at Mythai. The manager/owner is very friendly, welcoming and helpful and the setting is wonderful, a small oasis in the city. Breakfast was delicious with eggs etc cooked to order. 

The room itself was a little small and an odd shape but perfectly adequate for two people and comfortable. 

The location was also superb within walking distance to all the restaurants and bars on Florida Road, an easy drive to the beach and surrounding areas.

We'd definitely stay again if back in Durban.

Fantastic location and hosts

We stayed here for four nights and had a lovely time. The owner is super helpful and friendly, and is always on-hand to offer advice. The breakfast was simple but really good (those freshly baked muffins are to die for) and the location just off Florida Road is fab. Although it's near the bars and restaurants, it's really quiet so you'll get a good night's sleep. Can't recommend it highly enough.
