This is undoubtably the place to be if you are seeking a retreat in nature.  The ambiance is serene, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.  The sunsets were indescribable, each evening brought a spectacle of colours that painted the sky in the most breathtaking way.  The nights offered an unparalleled view of a myriad of glittering stars.  The staff's hospitality and attention to detail did not go unnoticed.  It was evident that the team takes great pride in ensuring guests have a memorable and relaxing time. 

A tranquil retreat with unforgettable sunsets

The Retreat is a very special place. We are return guests - an annual holiday destination for our family. Wonderful hosts, great food and mountain trails to keep one Fit. Breathtaking views and a place for reflection 
and  relaxation. Meeting guests from all parts of the globe and all walks of life also adds to the unique flavor of the Retreat. 

The Retreat -  Restful and Restorative

From the moment we arrived at The Retreat, our hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. When we told them we would be leaving too early for breakfast the next day, they insisted that it would still be ready for us (before dawn!). The old-world charm of the farm house nestled in the trees at the end of a mountainous valley, the friendly staff, and the family-style dinners are just a few reasons that make this an escape worth going back for.

Classic Klein Karoo hospitality

This was a highlight of an extended ‘back’  road trip - unique. Superb cuisine, excellent company, lovely ambience of both farmhouse and surroundings. More than a home from home with the dogs and owners making us feel so welcome. 

Memorable - just wished we’d booked to stay for several days

Wonderful hospitality in a beautiful setting

This is a wonderful place to relax and walk. Marie, Marcos and Layla are magnificent hosts. Super food, great rooms (well we had two bedrooms a lounge and a terrace) and our own weaver bird. Swim and row on the dam. Enjoy the magnificent mountains. It’s a fabulous place. But don’t come if you want city slicker hotels. This place is unique.

Just relax and enjoy

Great place to stay in an old farmhouse surrounded by beautiful nature with friendly hosts.Everything was well organized and we would stay there longer the next time.After walking one of the nice trails you can take a swim either in the pool, the pond or the rock pools in the river,very refreshing.

Groenfontain

Nestled into the hillside there is a dam to swim in, brilliantly marked trails to take yourself off on, fantastic views, knock out food & service from Marie and her great team. Book two nights ! We only booked one and it’s been our favourite place if our 10 day trip - we will be back but for longer next time.

A perfect respite to recharge the body and soul

After a warm welcome and an excellent diner we a an excellent short night. We had to wake up early to visit Meercat. We did not have time to walk around.
Anyway we appreciated the diner shared with all guests and the managers. It is the right place to meet people from everywhere and make friends.
