very nice B&B, Hugue and his team are always ready to spoil their guests. Rooms are nice, big and very neat. Breakfast is very well cared for. We were there with our 8 year old daughter who really enjoyed being with other children. I highly recommend this place to everyone

Hugues and is team are super hosts. We stayed with them in the beginning and at the end of our Rwanda tour trip.  We had a great stay at B&B place. Very comfortable rooms, nice swimmingpool and great suggestions for the interesting places to visit. The breakfast fruit plate was the best ever.

Great B&B with a homely feel

A very nice B&B, we would recommend it to anyone! We felt at home right away because of the hospitality and helpfulness of the owner Hugues! Very clean rooms, well trained staff and an excellent breakfast! Also, the possibility to rent a very well maintained 4x4 Toyota jeep made it an even nicer stay.

Recommendable stay!

The house is colourful and has pacious and perfectly clean rooms, had a nice little terrace with pool and garden view. Check out time was flexible to my late flight and airport transfer was free. Also other transport can be arranged easily. The breakfast was delicious and had a big variety, especially the homemade jams were a dream. Loved my stay there and Hugues and his team will do everything to make you feel home. Thanks. 

Perfect last night in Kigali

Umusambi Hotel in Kibagabaga offers very good value for money for visitors looking for comfortable rooms, a superb breakfast, free airport transfers, swimming pool and a lot more besides. Belgian owner Hugues and his team have made me feel very comfortable during the last two days while I've been visiting Kigali. What a colourful place! From the exterior of the buildings, to the beautifully tended gardens, bedroom interiors and dining area, there's plenty of colourful and artistic inspiration on display. I was delighted when someone recommended this place and I will definitely be back in the future.
The breakfast is something else! Tony will freshly squeeze oranges for you and make your eggs to order. That's just a small part of the breakfast which also includes fresh fruit, yoghurt, choice of cereals, Rwandan honey, cheese and charcuterie, bread or toast. Some days there's also patisserie. This morning we had creme vanille. The dining room looks out onto the gardens.
I have really enjoyed my two days here. My room (number one) has a small terrace overlooking the swimming pool and I have a great hot shower in the ensuite bathroom. My fridge is stocked with beers (an extra charge) and I have a good range of tea / coffee, free drinking water and TV with a zillion African channels. (If you want to watch news from Europe, for example, you can watch on the big screen in the lounge).
In addition to the bed-and-breakfast accommodation, you can eat dinner if you order in advance. Hugues and his team can also arrange tours around the capital or further afield around the country. I heartily recommend this small hotel which has 6 rooms and two self-contained aprtments with own kitchen). Rooms start from $60 per night including breakfast. Umusambi is perfect for tourists or for expats working on short-term projects in the city.
I'm due to check out this morning but the staff are very relaxed about you staying a little longer if there is no-one due to check in after you.

Colourful, friendly, incredible breakfast, great value for money

I have made a reservation at Umusambi only for my first two nights in Kigali, because I wanted to see whether I like the place...after the first night I arranged everything with Hugues for the following three weeks (me and later on also my husband had several stay overs in Kigali during travelling around in Rwanda). I really loved the place and was always happy to come back to Umusambi. 

All rooms are different (style as well as size), but all are really nice. Everything is perfectly clean and showers have hot water with good water pressure (not very common in Rwanda...). Breakfast was the best I had in Rwanda (good quality and very good choice compared to other places). 

Hugues and all his staff (in particular Toni) are so friendly and helpful. During all my time in Rwanda I had parts of my stuff at Umusambi and even when I only come back to repack my stuff without staying for the night, I could use a shower. Very nice. And thanks for all the nice and interesting chats we had!!

Umusambi is located in one of the better residential areas, there is nothing around except of Pili Pili restaurant in 10 minutes walking distance (I did not like this place that much; if interested see my review about Pili Pili). However, it is no problem to catch a "moto" just down at the main road (100 m from the entrance); to the "city center" it is approx. 1,000 rwf. Or just ask Hugues; there is always someone around to drive you whereever you want to go at very reasonable ratees (just some dollars).

If I every come back to Kigali, I will definitely stay at Umusambi again!!

Perfect homebase in Kigali!

My colleagues and I stayed here while in Rwanda for about 2 weeks. They did a wonderful job ensuring we were comfortable. The rooms are clean, relaxing and nicely decorated. The coffee and breakfast was always delicious and the wifi reliable. The host takes pride in making this b&b your home away from home. Highly recommended.

Home away from home

Deux nuits chez Hugues, avec petits-déjeuners et repas du soir: un vrai régal! 
Les chambres et le living room sont spacieux, aménagés avec beaucoup de goût, bien isolés entre eux. Notre hôte fort sympathique et totalement investi dans son rôle. A coup sûr, une adresse que je recommande chaleureusement!
A very nice place, where you can feel at home; the rooms are comfortable, it's really cosy, and you can even start or finish your day with a bath in the swimming pool. Hugues and his staff are professionnal and make you feel at ease and relax. Surely, a place to be in Kigali, near the airport, in a quite place, where you can feel very secure.

At home

We stayed here with our gracious Belgian host. The grounds are small but comfortable. the pool is panted green so it looks dirty but it's not. Food (except breakfast included) is not available so transport is needed as no restaurants are nearby.
