We booked here and then, after we realized after we reviewed other reviews on other websites (more warnings than reviews), decided not to go there.  In spite of the fact we had a non refundable deposit ( stay away from Hotel.com. They said thus place was a 4.2. I booked at the nearby Marriott. The Marriott was a 4.2 and it was a palace compared to this. 

On our second night in San Juan, we ended up trying to eat at the restaurant upstairs, but had to wait over an hour. I felt as we already paid to stay at the Milano, how bad could it be, we would check in and chill while we waited for our reservation. 

The room was horrible. The stench was so bad I couldn’t stay long enough to take a picture. 

They were great enough to refund some of our money. 

This place has great potential, and obviously great scruples, but, they they should stay closed while they overhaul this place

New owners are revamping it. In Feb, it was a dump

I was very dissatisfied with this hotel.  The whole Hotel smells like damp.  The staff is very rude.  The room looks dirty and old, even in my sheets there were pebbles.  Only the location is good. Just I stay one night. Thank God.


very disappointed

The staff is cordial for the most part. The location is great and they did store luggage before check in which was helpful.  The room itself was the worst - not surface dirty, but worn out, matted down filthy carpet, dust ruffle on the bed was ripped and safety pinned together, air condition vent was rusted and the room was musty. The rooms are tired and need to be renovated.  I don't recommend this place.  It was a place to sleep and shower, but was not enjoyable.

Needing a one night stay prior to a cruise I wanted a room in Old San Juan. 
Well kept, very clean and from the door to the desk to the house staff very nice people. ( and you’ll love the food and beverages on the roof)
Only a short walk to the fort on a Sunday morning.

We needed a room for one night before our cruise ship left. The Casablanca down the street was full but we knew this is a perfect area so we booked a night. When we arrived it was really hot so we had to ask them to cool down the room. The halls were very hot. Plenty has been said about the elevator already. Our experience with the desk help was pleasant. They were nice and friendly. But the room, at almost $200 for 1 night was horrible. We never stepped on the carpet. It was matted so we kept our socks on. We didn’t take a shower, preferring to wait until we boarded the ship. Our window latch was broken and wouldn’t close so the AC escaped and it was a noisy night. The furniture looked like it came from a 1980’s hotel auction. The chair seat wasn’t attached and I almost fell off it when I sat down. We won’t come back here.

Absolutely a dump,ac leaks all over room,tv doesn't work,plumbing in bathroom is BACKWARDS,HOT IS COLD AND COLD IS HOT,elevator is not working to code but they still allow useage.qe told them about issues and all they offered was a later check out time,I cant get out of this quick enough.san juan should condemn this place.SHOULDNT BE LISTED ON TRIP ADVISOR SOMEONE ISNT DOING THERE JOB.my credit card company will be notified

Hotel milano

If you like dingy roadside motels, then you will LOVE Milano!  Rooms smell musty.  Don't be surprised if you have bite bumps when you wake up!  The staff is friendly but I have been in Motel 6's that were better!  We are a middle class family that has saved 2 years for this cruise.  So I'm no elitist by any stretch.  Do your diligence and research these hotels thoroughly!  MilaNO! 

Roadside Motel At Best

I wasn’t expecting anything fantastic, but the website description of the rooms is misleading to say the least. Our room is tiny, dirty, with a very this sheet/blanket on a stiff bed, incredibly small windows, and a JOKE for a tv. I’m trying to watch the college playoff games on a television that is the size of a PC monitor they have mounted at the top of the room. This cannot even really function as a viewing experience. The entire room is humid and smells like mold. I’m sleeping in my clothes on the bed because it just grosses me out. Hate it here and am counting down the hours until we check out tomorrow morning to get on our cruise. Will never, ever stay here again and recommend anywhere but this. The good location IS NOT WORTH IT. I don’t understand the reviews that call this place charming. No Way!

Terrible value for the money

Hotel Milano is a quaint, older hotel. It is centrally located in Old San Juan convenient to many restaurants, nightlife and shopping. The check in staff were friendly and efficient. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. 
You will receive two keys, one for your room and one to access the halls leading to the rooms (just off the elevator) which is for added security since the one elevator is used for hotel guests and restaurant guests. 
The elevator is old, there is a sign posted that if more than five people ride the elevator, it may get stuck. 😎 The elevator has quirks and sometimes a mind of its own, but we laughed about it and dealt with it. 
We had booked a Deluxe Room. It was on third floor, (306). The room was spacious enough for three people. We had two double beds that were comfortable with ample pillows. Our room overlooked the street. 
The windows open, there are no screens or barriers that would make the room child safe. The windows are low enough that a toddler could easily climb up and fall out. So use caution! 
The furnishings were older, but in decent shape. The bathroom has plenty of room to move about. It has some rust on the ceiling and needs caulk repairs, but nothing horrible. 
The only thing that we found really dissatisfying was the air conditioner. There was no thermostat, only on or off. The vent blows from the ceiling directly over one of the beds. Several times at night we would wake up to turn the a/c on or off.

Quaint, older hotel.  Convenient

Maybe our expectations were too high but we found this hotel to be very basic. Location is great if you want to be in old San Juan and the restaurant on the roof is good. 

But the room we got was very basic with small windows and generally not very cosy. However, the main thing was that it was not clean. My wife was disgusted. 

Staff in the reception seemed not to care much, and on departure day the elevator was broken, so had to carry luggage down from 4th floor.
