Hotel Punta Pico

Punta Pico occupies a perfect position on a bay about 10km from Zorritos. It's very isolated, which is nice except it basically forces you to eat there. The view from the room is just spectacular. The ocean crashes right into the rocks directly below the balcony. From inside, it feels like you are on a cruise because all you can see out the window is ocean! The staff are fantastic. One of them speaks English but otherwise at least basic Spanish is very useful. Drinks are self serve and added to the same tab as the meals so you don't need to carry cash around. The breakfast is nice and the other meal options are extensive, although the menu is only in Spanish. The downside is INSECTS. There really is no way to stop them getting into the room. The balcony light operates on a sensor when it gets dark and attracts them like a beacon. On my first night, I left the balcony door open while I was at dinner and came back to swarms of insects that made sleep really difficult. I was very careful to shut everything up at sunset after that but they still get in. Still, insects aside, after 8 nights I was really disappointed to have to leave. I could never get tired of that view!
