Bubba's House

We started with 1 night and ended up with 3 nights. This place is really nice and cozy. The rooms are simple but nice. Only thing is that due to lack of water on the island there is fix showering times. The owner is very nice and friendly helping with everything. He is as well making really good FOOD. Don't miss the burger. 

We had a good time at bubbas. The owner Julian is a nice guy who finds a solution for all questions. He is looking for his guests that everybody can enjoy their stay. Old bank is a nice little town with friendly people.

We were staying in Jaguar hostel and wanted to eat somewhere near and decided to come to Bubbas. Me and my friend got veggie burgers with salad and fries. SO GOOD! Thank you!

Veggie burger, yam!!!

I was GRANDPAcking in Bastimentos for 4 nights and stayed all 4 of those nights in an Aircon Double Room at Bubba's for a ‘discounted’ price of US$31 / night.
Bubba’s looked the best of a bad (and expensive) bunch of options. It is built over the water with a shared deck area.
My room was upstairs in a group of 7 rooms. It had an in-room WiFi signal.
My aircon remote LCD screen was dead so I had no idea what settings it was on. Through trial and error, I found something that seemed to work and (from then on) just turned it on and off.
The room was small and ‘rustic’. But, it did have a wardrobe – which was tucked behind the ensuite door (that didn’t fit the frame and didn’t close).
The ensuite was a bit ‘tired’ with a cold-water shower.
This price included a free Breakfast. It was 2 pancakes (no more!) and tea / coffee.
It has a very small shared kitchen downstairs which people can use until 5pm. It was untidy and problematic to use. After 5pm it is used by the restaurant.
Water is switched off between 10pm and 8am – so, you can’t flush your toilet between those times.
There was a small shared balcony upstairs with a couple of hammocks and a view out over the water. Upstairs we could sit with our own drinks.
One positive is that they had a US$1 Beer Happy Hour between 6pm and 7pm which attracted a few people onto the downstairs deck to socialise.

Overpriced and run down

Bubbas house has a great location right on the ocean and during happy hour it’s incredible. The island is friendly and the staff gave advice about the island that was really helpful. Bubbas is also a restaurant so the food smells amazing but way outside my budget but the staff told me where to find good food for cheap. Only issue would be that it is advertised to have an accessible kitchen, that is true at certain times of the day, if they are using it, you can not.
