We had a good stay at hotel La Omeja. We stayed in cabaña 2 (very spacious for 4 persons).

We saw 1 cockroach in the bathroom, but that's it bugswise. In the morning, we could hear howler monkeys really close. 

Beautiful shower, only cold (fresh) water. For breakfast we could choose between a big pancake of gallo pinto with egg, crema and bread. 

The view from the swimming pool is breathtaking, a big plus.

La Omaja has the best location on the island. The views are really amazing; a sunset with a vulcano as dramatic backdrop cannot be found in many places... The gardens are lush and beatiful as well and the cabana's perfectly placed to give you the most of the views and lots of privacy. Food is good too and the freshly made juices are a real treat and very affordable. You are pretty close to nature and expect a spider or two, but also expect howler monkey's visting up in the trees now and then! It's an easy walk to a lovely pier in the lake where you can watch the birdlife or the stars at night; this is not a swimmimg location, but that can be done nearby. Staff is helpfull in arranging all kinds of activities if you don't have your own transportation.
The pool is a bit smaller than it looks in the pictures but great to watch the sunset. There's excellent wifi at the restaurant, but not at the cabanas.


Perfect views in the midst of nature.

This is a great place to stay.  Comfortable lodgings.  Wonderful food in the restaurant at reasonable prices and very nice people.  I can't imagine a better sunset location on the island. We had a great time in Ometepe and this place had a lot to do with it.  Highly recommend. 

You'll Love La Omaja

We travel a lot, and after 5 weeks in Costa Rica decided to head to Ometepe first during our 1 month stay in Nicaragua.

We stayed here for 7 days as we wanted to relax whilst also having time to explore the island, 7 days was the perfect amount of time and tbh we would most definitely stay longer.

Peter and his family are without a doubt the nicest hosts we have ever had. Our ferry got in late and it is an hour to the hotel (good taxi driver is Jose Luis +505 8360 3578 $25), I messaged the hotel on booking.com and Peter responded quickly to say they will leave the kitchen open. When we arrived all tired and sweaty we were greeted with open arms and the tastiest chicken! 

It was dark so we were unable to see the view, the dogs bark at first but soon snuggle up next to you and then take responsibility as your protector (Fiona was my favourite). 

The family room was incredible, amazing space and balcony and the beds were great to sleep in. The shower is hot water and powerful, the design is beautifully done. 

In the morning we were surprised to see the most beautiful view from our balcony! We had breakfast included in the price so made our way up to the pool which is insane! The best hotel view we have ever seen, and the cost to stay here is nothing compared to what you can pay on the island. 

Peter and his wife were so attentive, helped us to book a quad for 3 days and ensured we knew all the hot spots to go to on the island. 

Juriel was a star, he quickly ensured we felt welcome and then took us on our volcano hike. He’a forever smiling and a credit to the hotel! 

We ate at the hotel 5/7 nights because the food was so amazing and we enjoyed the vibe of the hotel after a long day. Plus the sunset views are out of this world so it was nice to chill by the pool with a drink then have a short walk to eat a meal. 

Everything in the hotel is made from the gardens of the hotel, the satay chicken was incredible as is the pesto. We had bananas from the tree as part of our breakfast, and the fresh juices were delightful.

We wish we had longer and hope to come back to Hotel La Omaja again in the future! Thank you to you all for making our trip 5*



The BEST hotel we have ever stayed in

We stayed 2 days in Isla Ometepe and at the Hotel Omaja. We were so happy to be there! Peter managed to make us feel like in a familial atmosphere. Their food and drinks are just amazing (a lot is home made). If you want to do something, they arrange it for you with nice prices. And than you have this sunset at the pool... i honestly don’t use a lot Tripadvisor but this stay was so nice that I just had to notify it 😍!!

Super Great!

Me and mi family stayed in La Omaja  back in July. The view is amazing. Beautiful place to relax. The gardens and flowers in the place make it even more beautiful. The only thing I didn’t like was the food , it wasn’t as authentic Nicaraguan. The owner was the cook the food was okay but not as traditional. Another thing the lights when off 1 of the nights and there was no generators or back up. The pool is smaller than it looks in pictures but my family and I were the only ones there so it was perfect for our party. Overall we enjoy our stay we were happy and the servers were nice including the owner. They made us feel welcomed. 

Nice Place Amazing View

My family along with another family stayed for 3 nights while visiting Nicaragua. The property is beyond gorgeous. Peter, the manager/chef and his lovely wife Miriam made sure we were comfortable and happy. They went over and above to accommodate us. The food was prepared using fresh ingredients and quite delicious! Try the pesto, its wonderful!  We had 3 bungalows between the 9 of us and had plenty of space. The bungalows are clean, comfortable, and each felt secluded. The grounds were beautiful with an infinity pool overlooking the lake and volcano. We hope to return!

Stunning!

La Omaja Hotel is a spectacular, secluded spot with a must-see view. I would highly recommend staying here while on Ometepe.

QUICK SUMMARY

- amazing 

My partner and I were in Ometepe for 3 nights. The first night we stayed in Moyogalpa (because it was so close to the ferry) and then we journeyed here.

Peter and his wife were both very welcoming. They upgraded our room, gave us advice on where to visit and set up a guide to climb nearby Maderas volcano.

The trip to get to Omaja is quite the adventure, as the roads are quite bumpy, but I wouldn't have changed a thing. You get to see rural parts of the island and glimpses of day-to-day Nicaraguan life that you wouldn't otherwise.

The rooms are simple and tidy. The AC worked very well.

The view from the pool is just incredible. We drank Tonas and watched the sun go down

Secluded, magical spot with priceless view

La Omaja was one of four stops on our trip around Nicaragua.  It's simple, but clean, comfortable and nicely arranged.  We found everyone in the country to be so friendly, and this was no exception.  We had breakfast each day (is included), dinner one night and lunch another day at the restaurant on the property.  Everything was excellent!  

You'll have great views of Concepcion and nice sunsets and sunrises.  We would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Ometepe.

We were a little hesitant at first to book the trip because of the current political situation, but had no regrets.  We rented a car and spent 8 days driving all around Nicaragua, with no problems.  Nicaragua is a lovely country to visit, we'll be back.

Stay here!

Stayed at La Omaha for three nights and had a great time here, the view and sunsets here are going to be hard to beat anywhere! Service from the couple(Peter & Mariam) managing the place was top notch, they were very friendly and always ready with a recommendation or whatever you needed to be comfortable. We booked several excursions through the hotel, including a hike up the Maderas volcano and a trip to Los Ojos de Agua and had a great time on both excursions! Our guide for the Maderas hike was fun and very knowledgeable about the different plants, trees and animals found on the volcano. We also hiked on our own up to the waterfall found about a ten minute drive from La Omaja. We enjoyed all the food and beverages prepared and served at the hotel, all in all we had a great time at this place and would love to return one day.
