Villa Shakespeare

A lovely place to stay. Our room was accessed by external french doors. Wonderfully clean and compfortable. Quietly set back away from the main road.
We happened on it by chance, looking for somewhere to stay near the Hobbiton tour. Very happy

Everything of this beautiful peaceful & gorgeous Estate was just perfect. Beds/rooms supa comfortable, immaculate.  All restaurants, have 5 star reviews, so doesnt matter where you eat, it will be worth it.  Dinner at Tappa's just yummy...Thank you April

This was our second visit to Villa Shakespeare. The thing that really stands out for us each time we visit is the attention to detail and the little things that make a difference. We love the garden cottage which is where we choose to stay. It is private yet we know our hosts are available should we need them. This trip we left our togs out to dry and when we got back from the lake it had been raining, so our brilliant hosts had popped our togs in the drier and folded them in our room when we returned. We also appreciated the fact they catered for those with food allergies at breakfast without being asked. Twice now they have gone the extra mile and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back. 

What an incredible find. From the minute we arrived we loved this place. We arrived early afternoon and the hosts Hillary and Jeremy had popped out, but they had left us a wonderful welcoming note with clear directions to which room was ours. We dropped off our things and made our way to Karapiro which was the purpose of our visit. Karapiro is a short easy drive from the accomodation. When we returned late afternoon, we met Hillary and Jeremy and they were both very friendly and welcoming. Hilary got us checked in and settled in and showed us the breakfast room and explained how breakfast worked.
We were in the garden cottage which was really neat. It had a bedroom, bathroom and small living area with a kitchenette. The room was situated at the back of the garden and had a lovely veranda looking out to the garden. The room was really well presented. The bed was very comfortable. There were lots of favourites for us, but highlights were, the great choice for breakfast, the attention to detail - lots of neat little touches, the perfect balance of friendliness and checking in from the hosts, while still feeling like we had our own space and privacy and finally the incredible hospitality of Hilary and Jeremy - nothing was a problem (Hilary even offered to wash and dry my sons paddling clothes when he joined us on the last day of his competition). They really do go above and beyond. I couldn’t recommend this little gem more highly and we will definitely be back.

I arrived very late and I went to the main house. April had stuck a message to her front door to tell me that my room was unlocked. I was shocked at what I encountered - not in a bad way but in a good way. I had booked ‘Much Ado’ and it was amazing. It was well decorated; everything looked fresh and it was homely! I originally booked one night but then I immediately booked a second online. 

I couldn’t recommend this place any higher!

Have a look at my pictures because the standard of this room was brilliant. Just make sure when you speak to April, don’t allow her boy to slam the door shut on her because he was locked in and I had to break in to open the house as April was pregnant. 


A beautiful colonial house has been beautifully restored and extended to provide luxurious rooms and suites close to this pretty NI town.
Our hosts were completely delightful and went out of their way to make our short stay completely wonderful.
The accommodation is supremely comfortable, spotlessly maintained and quietly tucked away from a fairly busy road at the front of the section.
Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this lovely accommodation and warmly, friendly hosts to other travellers heading to or through the neat town of Cambridge, New Zealand.

Beautiful accommodation set in large green lawned gardens. The hosts went out of their way to make us welcome and the rooms are Shakespeare themed and exquisite. It was quiet at night and offered something other than even your above average motel room experience. Attention to detail with black out curtains and charming bone china crockery. Children enjoyed frisbee on the lawn until it landed on the roof and we enjoyed relaxing breakfasts on the veranda. Highly recommended. 

A great place to stay. Hillary was very welcoming. The Rooms felt like home. Hillary also provided us good info for local places to eat and for coffee.. 

When I come back to NZ I will definitely stay here again. 

We stayed in the Midsummer Room, which was absolutely gorgeous! Perfect for our 2 night stay in Cambridge.  Room was warm and cosy. Bed was super comfortable.  Everything was just perfect. This bed and Breakfast is a real little gem. Highly recommended.

Had a great stay here for 3nights while attending a family wedding. 
Nothing too much trouble and we stay in the cottage which was very comfortable.
Hilary was very friendly and even offered to do some washing for me!
Thoroughly recommend.
