This is a rented house not a hotel; and was booked through AirBnb and apart from a slightly confusing house manual, the photos say it all, and are true-to-reality: a very comfortable house; a compact but adequate kitchen in small beautiful gardens, in the stunning location of Glenorchy at the Top of the lake. The house looked over an open grassy area down to the lake and the iconic Glenorchy Boatshed. The property is adjacent (not physically attached) to the small deli-cafe, and there is an ice cream trailer just over the garden fence! There is no daytime laundry but we were very helpfully able to use the machine and dryer of the deli-cafe (which is actually confusingly in a locked room within the house with access to the cafe only during the day...) during evenings. That worked just fine. Oddly no brushes or brooms to sweep the kitchen floor, and no instructions on what to do with domestic or kitchen waste for NZ newcomers - we worked it out. Great BBQ and fabulous hot tub. Shady cool verandah on 3 sides, one private sitooterie for the master bedroom; nice sitting room for board-games of an evening. 2 very nice bathrooms; beds comfy and cool.  2 mountainbikes available free from the cafe. Sometimes we got a complimentary morning coffee. We did not meet the owner but the ladies in the cafe next door seemed to run the place and were all extremely helpful and pleasant. Although this was high season, there for no particular disruptive noise from the cafe or area outside.
It was hot during our stay, and there is no air-con, so the one room upstairs, a large bedroom (not used or required) was stifling: great for storage and clothes drying. Glenorchy is a stunning, peaceful, small sprawling hamlet, about 45 mins in a car from the relatively urban Queenstown - we'd return if we could.

Delightful; recommend

This Boutique Bed and Breakfast had a pleasant hot tub plus, the accommodation itself was adequate for the price, however I was disappointed to learn that the deposit taken as part of the booking consisted of the full payment for the two nights we stayed meaning they had the use of my money for 14 days this was not a deposit but full payment.  It advertises as a bed and breakfast however the breakfast is only available if you book direct .  The site we booked on and all others I checked after the event declared that the room would be serviced.  This did not happen.  We would not recommend this B&B.

A dissapointing experience

Absolutely wonderful stay. The staff and locals are genuine and so nice. What a special place. We rented the whole house and it was heavenly. Excellent breakfast, fruit bowl was a nice extra! Enjoyed the hot tub. Sat on the verandah and enjoyed cups of tea and the odd glass of wine! The trading post is right next door and we had great coffee and cake. It’s just the most idyllic place and a slice of heaven.

The Lake House was a well appointed & very comfortable base for our stay. The views of the mountains just stunning. Perfect size for our group of 6. Lots of lovely thoughtful touches & the spa pool a bonus. Thanks so much.

Lovely visit to Glenorchy

We had a great stay at Lakehouse Glenorchy. We shared the Lakehouse with other people, but we barely have seen each other. 

Breakfast was great and the hottub was amazing. 
Staff was really helpfull, the accomodation is clean!

Amazing place!

Very comfortable and great location.  Enjoyed the lagoon walk, breakfasts at Trading Post, chats with staff.  Clean, spacious and comfortable.  Easy drive round the top of the lake to Kinloch.  Particularly enjoyed the walk around Lake Sylvan.

Lakeside peacefulness

Such a beautiful house and perfect location, with views of the lake and a short walk to all shops. Nina is a fabulous host, there were lots of very thoughtful touches to make our stay special. Highly recommend the Lake House, hope to go go back.

Amazing place

I could put up photos of the amazing view of Glenorchy and the surrounds but chances are that you've already seen them and are now looking for a place to stay. The Lake House is comfortable and situated very close to the lake.This is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it's close to walk and get a better view down the lake or up towards the mountains where sections of LoTR was filmed. Bad because there are sand flies which will happily feast upon your bare skin. Make sure you wear good insect repellent at all times.We stayed in the King suite and it was a quite sizable room with a massive en-suite which included a separate bath. There is a small deck out the front where you could sit and have a coffee or a wine. WiFi was easy to access and suitably fast.The host was amazing and greeted me by name before I managed to tell her any more than the fact I was checking in. I felt that there was nothing that she would not have done to make our stay more comfortable if this was required.

Comfortable and close to the lake.

Perhaps we didn’t read the write upProperly but we didn’t like the shared kitchen dining and lounge facilities also the free breakfast option is only an option if you can stay onsite after 8.30 am which didn’t work for us .Very clean and tidy but possibly a bit rich for money paid

If you are a couple or 2 then I highly recommend Glenorchy lake house as a place to rent for a base in this area.
Close to the lake with good views, the house is very comfortable  and has all you need for your stay.
The hot tub is also great after a big day out.
The house is well managed by the trading post next door and all your needs will be well looked after.
