Check in was speedy, without hassle; room was, as expected, basic and slightly dated, but clean and containing everything we needed for our stay (though the towels were very very small and thin). Shared toilet and shower were also dated but very clean and worked fine. Bartender was very pleasant. Breakfast was pretty good and varied enough for our liking; the young ladies in the kitchen were very friendly and helpful. 
Our room happened to be located right over the bar and insulation non existent, so we were sort of forced to enjoy the music (or what was regarded as such :-) ) Our reaction to the explanation of bill can't have been the first or only one, so maybe the lady/the management should consider to be a bit more clear about that (and a smile might help too :-) )
Overall is was a good place for our purpose and worth the money.

Good, convenient place

I booked here because a friend of my recommended it. I was gonna run the 'Koning van Spanje' trail. Friendly service, het owner and bartender helps you with whatever he can. I also realy enjoyed talking to him. He can give you good advices expecially about transportation all around.

The got a free paring area. If you're taking the train, there is a station 10 minute walk away. It connects with Valkenburg and Maastricht.

The rooms are descent with good beds. It was quiet during the night. Nothing fancy but who needs that?

The breakfast is also good. Different kind of toast and bread, some eggs and yoghurt if you like. Coffee, tea, milk and orangejuice.

Enjoyable stay

I stayed here in mid June 2013 for one night.  The hotel isn't actually in Valkenburg, it is in the village to the west.  If travelling by public transport the village train stop is much closer than the bus stop, but is still about 600m away.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  The room was basic but clean.
