This is one of the most beautiful hotels of the city and especially the very friendly staff made me feel welcome! The entrance was a bit hard to find but that's the only thing. The hotel has a beautiful garden and a very good breakfast! 

Visit to beautiful Essaouira

We had a great time at the Riad. Flexible people that immediately helped us when we realized that we booked the wrong room. 
We were the only persons staying at the Riad which felt a little lonesome. Due to the very windy weather (20/s), we decided to leave the town a little earlier than planned. 

Nice Riad 

Beautiful, beautiful place! We felt so welcome from the start. Fatima and Mohammed took so good care of us. Very attentive, bringing us mint tea all the time and trying to learn us Arabic. And even though my French is barely existing and the same with their English it worked out perfectly fine. The rooms are big and clean, and the riad very old but well kept.

Absolutely a hidden gem i Essaouira, not right in the center of the medina but still within the old city wall. Lovely big patio and lovely rooftop terrasse with view of the whole city - although a bit windy.

Lovely place

We spent a few nights in the Yellow Room at Riad du Figuier, and it was wonderful. After arriving on a late bus from Marrakech, it was a pleasure to arrive at the Riad and be Figuier and be greeted with delicious mint tea, and shown to our very comfortable room (with a radiator! It was March and quite chilly at night in Essaouira). Breakfast was served each day with a smile - delicious crispy moroccan pancakes and semolina pancakes, hot coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice. The Riad has a wonderful rooftop with great views across Essaouira to the sea, and the courtyard has two resident (very friendly) tortoises. The only thing I would say is if you are staying in the Yellow Room, make sure you keep the plug in the bath, as it is an open plan room with just a seperator for the bathroom, and there can quite a smell from the bath if left unplugged. Apart from that, everything was absolutely wonderful and so laid back, the Riad was also very flexible and allowed us to keep our luggage in the room until later in the afternoon when we were leaving to get back to Marrakech. Would definitely recommend!

Oasis of calm

This is a beautiful old house, stylishly presented with a lovely courtyard, sunroom and breakfast room on the ground floor. The garden, with its resident turtles,is meticulously maintained by Mohamed- the non-English -speaking man of all work who is charming and endlessly helpful.
Fatima makes and serves a pleasant breakfast as well as tending to the adequate rooms up the vertiginous staircases.
Altogether this is a good, low priced option in Essaouira.
 It was most disappointing as we were leaving to have Badr miscalculate our bill so as to charge nearly double, even though his own computer showed the correct price. He was in any event unable to produce an invoice from the computer. He could only manage a note on the back of a page torn from his desk calendar. Payment by card could not be effected either. We did not enjoy going through the very basic arithmetic necessary to have our bill reduced in line with the agreement on our booking!
In summary- only good value if you keep a sharp eye on the bill.

Watch for the switcheroo!

The two people working there were really lovely, smiling and trying to teach us some Arabic. This was very very kind. We also met a woman who seems to be the owner, at least she collected the money. She was also very helpful and I have to thank her a lot.

I think this is a nice place for back packers. It is not too posh and could be considered to be overpriced. We stayed there in "cold" March, during the day it had 20°C; our room was spacious, so the small electric heating cold not really heat up the room. It was warm enough to not freeze, but not warm enough to feel comfortable; also the bath room is not completely seperated from the bedroom, resulting in humidity from taking a shower and smell from the toilet (would be a good idea from the owners to clean the toilet with some fruity cleaning liquid every now and then to make the urin smell go away). Our room probably had been unused for some time, the smell of old humidity in the room (you may know it from an old cellar or camping) went away after some days, but you never wanted to leave your clothes openly in the room (fearing the would soak up the smell). Room was clean and walls newly painted;  all in all it still didn't make me feel 100% comfortable at wintertime as the overall impression was a bit run-down. Probably I wouldn't have minded in summertime. Breakfast was dissappointing, we got coffee (or tee) 2 bread, 1 pancake, butter and yam. We started buying some additional cheese and fruits ourselves which cost literally niothing anyway...
