One of the worst hotels I have been in.. the room had a pungent smell of old perfume.. the rugs in the room were dirty.. I couldn't stay in the room it smelled so bad.. I tried to get another room (the hotel was practically empty) but they refused.  I wanted my money back but they refused.. I had to go to another hotel..

Beware

You would expect good internet servin 2022 at a hotel of this level but no. Despite 10 routers each one fails after a few minutes. You constantly bounce between logging on to another connection all night long. I believe the management has this programmed intentionally to discourage downloads or constant use. But we pay to have basic internet access. They do not care. I have complained several times and all I get is "I'm sorry"

Nice hotel with horrible internet

Anyone can stay at the Holiday Inn or Sheraton. This is an older hotel that has the charm and charisma of Mexico. The price is super affordable. At this price you could afford to stay twice as long. We stayed on the Miramar side of the hotel. Less traffic noise but enjoyed listening to the street entertainment. The complementary breakfast across the street was a wonderful experience. You get a very authentic feel. The room was adequate and clean. The housekeeping was friendly and capable. We plan to stay again on our next trip to Ensenada.

This place is in the best location and rooms clean. The staff is awesome. Carlos is out in the parking and is the maintenance type guy, but this guy is so sweet and really cares about his job and people. We love him and this hotel.

Best down town hotel

this place is interesting - it lies on one of those pie-shaped corners, takes up most of the block, and has a central courtyard for parking which it shares with another establishment - a 'motel.'  (don't ask me the diff - i couldn't tell you).

very adequate rooms, with hair drier, good water pressure and hot water, nice firm mattresses, tv, remote etc.  the only thing bothering us was that smelly spray in the hallway (and, by proximity, in the room).

actually had to burn some paper to help remove the cloying floral stink.  (set off the smoke alarm, but cleared the room of all of it.)

they offer a 'continental breakfast (which i have always taken to mean a walking breakfast of toast or roll & coffee or tea - but this one included scrambled eggs and pancakes!), which was good - at a little restaurant across the street.  they have a pair of caged chinchillas in the lobby, poor things, along with a farmacia and a gift shop.  oh, and their own restaurant, which was good (see pics) & not expensive.

altogether, a worthwhile place to lay one's head in a special beach town in old Mexico!

Great old-fashioned hotel, near downtown & the beach!

Staying five days on a recent visit, my overall impression was, this hotel does what it's built to do and nothing more.   

The location is excellent being almost across the street from the boardwalk.  The room was super roomy and the wi-fi worked well.  It could get noisy with revelers in adjacent rooms but this should be expected.

But I'm not sure why the hotel doesn't bother to turn on the heater -- or whether it even had one.  I visited in January and, walking through the lobby and hallway, it was absolutely freezing.  Almost see-your-breathe cold.  The shower pressure was low and barely gets lukewarm.  The TV cable channels were all in español.

When checking in, the receptionist asked whether I desired a street facing room which was noisier or one facing inwards.  I guess you're to decide whether you're willing to tolerate more noise for a better view.  There's no right or wrong answer here.  But you should know that in Ensenada, for whatever tone deaf reason, the police enjoy blaring their sirens when driving down the street in a tourist area which was frequent at night.  So take street noise into account when deciding which direction you want your room to face, if you're given a choice.

My OK experience

A few days ago my wife and I went to this Hotel at around 10 am to get a room, but we were informed that they could not help us until after 3 o’clock when the vacancies opened up. The attendant stated that there were plenty of rooms available so we didn’t have to worry about it. I offered to pay for a room in advance she said they couldn’t do that until after 3pm. So my wife and I walked around Ensenada for a few hours and we went back at 2:30pm and the girl at the counter informed us that ALL the rooms were booked and to go look somewhere else for a room since there was nothing else she could do. Needless to say we were very disappointed.

This place is truly amazing the care taker is wonderful. I think his name is Carlos? We have stayed here several times now and it's been great. Not the most fancy spot but it's clean and has a awesome location in down town, close to shopping and food.
