Dhaan Retreat

Very clean and friendly helpful staff.Nice and budget hotel. Room and bathroom was very good and clean. WI-Fi works well but satellite TV doesn't work. You can go to public beach form there to bath and many restaurants near.

Very Clean and friendly staff

We stayed in a room for 3 for 1 night as we arrived late in the night. The room was relatively clean even though my cousin found a roach in his room. The extra bed was tiny and hard. I'm 1.57cm and my legs were sticking out. At the end, the 3 of us squeezed on the king size bed. Breakfast was super simple with 3 slices of toast, a hard-boiled egg and sausages. Wifi did not work initially until the staff came to fix it. TV totally didn't work. Location wise, there is a small mart just round the corner and the beach is just the following street. 

Alright for one night.

We booked two rooms in this hotel via Agoda one month before our arrival in Maldives. Everything was fully paid via credit card one week before our arrival. When we arrived at the street where the hotel was supposedly located, our driver (who was a local) had trouble finding it. When he finally found it, he told us there was no one there and that he would call the phone number posted on the door. So after waiting several minutes someone came. Outside the hotel there was a pile of stinky trash. The hotel did not have a lobby so while the staff were supposedly processing our booking, we were waiting outside on the street with all our luggages on the street. After 15
minutes of waiting I asked what the problem was and they told us they were fully booked and that they would transfer us to a nearby hotel (allegedly with the same owner as Dhaan Retreat). Imagine that, we were fully paid and yet when we arrive there they did not have room for us. Very unprofessional. They transferred us to Summer Reef Lodge across the street. Do not book Dhaan Retreat and Summer Reef Lodge if you want to enjoy your vacation. They have the worst service.

Summer Reef Lodge is another horror story. They were very careless with our luggage. Most of the staff know very little English so communication is a challenge. The only staff who was somehow fluent in English was not very accommodating and was rude to us. The airconditioning in the rooms were not working properly. We asked them to transfer us to a different room but they all had poor airconditioning. The room was not cleaned well. The phones were not working. The rooms were not well lighted as well. The bathroom smelled so bad that despite their efforts of trying to mask the smell with air freshener spray it persisted. The towels were dirty and still had hair of the person who previously used it. I was so grossed out that I wanted to throw it outside the window. Wifi was not working on the second floor and when we complained about it the staff just shrugged. The linen was questionable. It looked barely washed. I have stayed in budget hotel rooms before so I know how to set my expectations properly. However this hotel room (Summer Reef Lodge) was a nightmare considering that they charge 50 USD per room. You can get a much better room for the same price at Express Inn. Do not book this hotel. You will regret it. This should be banned from Agoda and other similar sites.

Worst hotel

Booked last minutes due to no ferry transfer. Wasn't expect the room we get is disappointing. Room's wifi signal very bad, no blanket, tv not working, water heater not working, water pressure low. Service just mediocre.
