Tanks to the wonderful staff and guide at base camp we hade two incredible days that will be with us fore long! The food is great , the service is fantastic, the rooms are incredible soo this was much more of everything than I hade expected. We will get back her in the future.

A wonderful place on earth

What a place and what an experience. What a host, guide and staff! Safari with Smiling John who knows the place and all the animals. A fantastic guide. The care and service we received from Rose was fantastic. Thank you very much for a unique and wonderful experience, which we will remember for life.

What a place and what an experience.

I stayed at Basecamp Masai Mara for three days and had an awesome experience! The camp and rooms were clean and very comfortable, the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and the safaris were incredible! John was my guide and he made sure we went to locations to see the animals I was hoping to take pictures of.

Excellent experience!

When we came to the camp we were amazed by the good service and how nice they were to us. The food was amazing and we loved our server Andrew what a very good guy he is.  The safari was so good our driver John took us to places we saw the top 5 and we were alone on the safari and he respected the animals

The nicest place I have been

The most beautiful camp. The view to the wildlife is exciting 😊 Clean, pleasant, friendly and professional service all around. The amazing Masai people taking care of it all ❤️ The tents are just beautiful- sounds of nature surrounding us. 
Two people that we got to know extra are the waiter Andrew - such a pleasant person attending us  in such a friendly manner whilst surving us the most delicious food. 
Smiling John- the best guide for game drive. Very knowledgeable teaching us about the ecosystem and nature of animals- respecting the animals with his driving and approach to them. And what a funny guy🤗 Basecamp Massi Mara has been the best 🙏

An adventurous trip 🤗

We stayed for 3 nights at Basecamp Masai Mara and 4 nights at Eagle View for our honeymoon. We LOVED our experience and can't recommend it enough. Staying at two separate locations allowed us to have two different experiences; the Masai Mara is vast and amazing, and the protected reserve where Eagle View is located offered a more intimate, relaxed experience. The game drives were amazing and our drivers (Manfred and Seki) were wonderful, knowledgable, kind, and always checking in to make sure we were having a great experience. The staff at both lodges were so kind and it was a delight to get to know them. Johnson at Eagle View went out of his way to make our last night so special! Sophia at Basecamp was also so great. 

The only negative about the trip was that we were unfortunately paired with a young family (2 kids -- 1 was 6 years old and the other was 15 months -- yes, you read that correctly) for two days, and it was a terrible experience to be on game drives with them. The kids were crying and screaming and talking and singing the whole time, which was disruptive to us, the driver, the jeeps/guests around us, and the animals. We were watching lions hunt a buffalo and the kids began screaming and crying out of fear that they would see a successful hunt. It was wild. Basecamp should really not allow such young kids to go on safari, and if they do, it should be a different experience and these young families should either go solo or be paired with other young families. 

That being said, our driver went out of his way to salvage our experience and gave us a special private drive, which was a highlight of our trip that we still talk about today. We'll definitely be back! 

Amazing safari experience! 

Absolutely loved this place. We wanted to stay where we are in touch with Nature. Our tent was on the banks of Talek river. We could hear Hippos at night which was breathtaking experience. All the staff goes above and beyond. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all along the river with wood burning fireplace. Chef Enock Ondimu went above and beyond meeting my dietary needs. Beautiful sitting location where you can enjoy views and nature. I

Breathtaking beautiful experience while being in beautiful Africa. It’s truly gave us authentic experience. 

This is such an amazing place to stay right in the heart of the Mara. No driving through gates just walk over the bridge to join the safari vehicle. The tented rooms are so authentic and most have lovely views over looking the river and are very comfortable and just what you would expect from a tented camp. The food in the restaurant was amazing at all times and to sit in-front of the lit fire in the evenings was perfect. The morning and evening game drives were just mind blowing and we feel with our guide Dennis that we struck gold. He was simply superb and we saw the big five plus the magnificent wilder-beast/zebra  migration which was very emotional and spectacular. We were told that people return many times to base camp explorer due to the great location and almost guarantee to see the big five and we will certainly be back. The staff here can not do enough to help everyone and it’s lovely to see how much they enjoy their jobs and how lovely they treat the guests. Just book it you will not be disappointed. 

Fabulous safari experience

Food – 5/5
Safari Experience – 4/5
1)	The guide John made us comfortable from the moment we met him. We were able to see 4 out of 5 big fours, great migration. 
2)	However, on Day 3, our morning safari happened for 2.5 hours because the driver/ guide had to drop other guests to another camp. Lot of time wasted that day. 
3)	The car stopped twice because of battery issues (once in between the safari and second time early morning before starting the safari). Don’t think this was in guide’s control but more of a management issue.
Camp Management – 2/5
•	Some of the staff were really good (especially the ones at restaurants and Masai warriors). Special mention for Abigal for her amazing hospitality.
•	Housekeeping felt like a scam. 
1)	We were clear that laundry is not included. However, during the room tour, the housekeeping boy James explicitly mentioned laundry is included. And then later came with a bill. 
2)	James asked us to pay in cash as soon as he handed over the clothes. When we mentioned that we would pay the amount at the reception while checking out, he forced us to pay right there. Later we spoke to Terry at reception. She agreed this is wrong and assured to resolve. Instead of resolving it by themselves, she sent him to our room to resolve it. 
3)	We got to know from other guests that they have been getting hot water bags every night and had Shuka’s in their room for cold. However, could not find those in our room on any of the days. A very small thing but goes a long away in making the entire experience memorable.
•	On the last day as we were getting ready to leave, we were literally rushed out of the camp mentioning that our flight has been preponed by 45 minutes, only to reach their and find out that it was its original time.


Good but not great!

We came for our honeymoon and it was a great, authentic, mid-range camping experience! The meals were absolutely beautiful and very generous, really cosy restaurant with thoughtful little touches, and to be able to watch the wild animals while dining... just wow 😍

Staff were helpful and friendly, the tent was spacious (although didn't have the open air shower in our tent as mentioned in the bio), and was a great experience to complement our AMAZING safari adventure.
