Salem Cave Camp

Made very welcome,  superb location.  Homemade food cooked under the ground was delicious and authentic. Breakfast was better than expected with fresh bread warmed on an open fire.  Views from camp were stunning. 

We stayed in Salem Camp for only one night, but we would love to stay longer. The tents are big, nice and clean and the bathrooms nicer that the ones in the cities. We went in November and it was pretty warm, even in the nights.
Khaled (our host) is very friendly and helpful, a great person. He took us from Wadi Rum Visitor Center to the camp, arranged for us the camel and the jeep tour (which we totally recommend to take so you can see the beautiful landscapes), even the taxis from WR to Aqaba.
The dinner and the breakfast were delicious. The camp has nearby some rocks that you can climb to see the sunset and the sunrise. It was a great place to be and we will come back!

Khaled is a great host, the make us a memorable day, and, he bring a birthday cake with candles for my husband, when he found out that we celebrate his birthday in that day, in camp.
The food was delicios, the tents big enough, with extra blanchets if needed, the staff very friendly.  And.... One hour laying down on the sand on a blanket, a little bit far from the camp, watching the sky , see the Milky way, folling stars... A night that we will never forget! Thank you so much Khaled!!!

Me and a group of friends spend one night at Salem Camp. From beginning everything went very smoothly. We received instructions where to park, car was waiting for us at the agreed hour. 
We started with a 3 hour safari and visited multiple points in Wadi Rum. I recommend this tour compared to the 2 hours one as it has the natural bridges included. There was no pressure on the way related to how much to spend in one place. Yusuf, our guide was very friendly during the trip and helped a lot showing us everything on the way. 
At the camp the accommodation was very good, clean, hot water for shower. 
Dinner was slowly cooked under ground and it was very good. During evening we  enjoyed sitting at the campfire and drinking tea. 
Sky is amazing our there, full of starts. 
You can enjoy sunset, sunrise on the rocks behind the camp. I would advice to take a jacked as during night it can be cool if the wind is blowing. 

Everything was very good. 

We stayed at Salem Camp for one night in April 2019 and had an excellent experience. Starting of with Khaled meeting us at Wadi Rum Village and then Yusuf taking us on a 4x4 jeep tour for the day before dropping us off at the camp. The tents were clean, had a light and power so you can charge your devices. The bathrooms were also clean, there is no hot water, but that is understandable as it is in the middle of the dessert. 

We were provided with a delicious traditional dinner, and later in the night we gathered around the fire drinking tea and exchanging stories.

I would highly recommend Salem camp to anyone thinking of going to Wadi Rum.

This was one of the best experiences i had as a traveller. The camp has a lot of features that make it the best choice among camps to stay in Wadi Rum:
 
- GREAT position (it is further away in the desert than most camps, giving an authentic desert feeling)
- AWESOME view (it is nicely situated with a view over a vast area of the desert from the camp, and near the camp there is a cliff, which is easy to climb, from where you can see the sunset over the desert - i truly recommend the experience)
- sleeping tents are really clean, have electricity, you are provided with enough blankets for the night in the desert (night in the desert can be really cold), but if desired, the staff will provide you with even more blankets.
- BEST staff (the people at the camp will go out of their way to help you have an awesome experience, are really nice, joke a lot, give you advice on how to experience the desert best, and being locals, the stories are absolutely fantastic)
- AWESOME trips (i recommend the jeep safari as one of the best trips i did)
- VERY GOOD SERVICE (evenings by the fire camp, tea, awesome local food)

I would strongly recommend this place for anybody travelling for a night in Wadi Rum

We stayed 1 night in January 23rd. We were the only ones in the camp and was ok. During the night you need in this period  something to cover your head and we needed 4 blankets to warm, but was a great experience. The view is great, especially the sunset. We take the lunch here for 7 JOD/pers. The food was delicious. 

We slept in a very comfortable twin tent on single metal beds provided with sheets, pillow, blankets and a towel. The shower/toilet block was clean and had soap and toilet paper provided. Staff were very friendly and the evening meal and breakfast very tasty.

The trip in the desert was really nice, also the accommodation was better than expected. The room was clean, we had a (shared) clean bathroom & shower, also the common area was comfy. We would have liked to have a more involved guide (our guide didn't go with us on the places along the way and didn't know to tell us more about them). Also, in the morning after, the guide failed to tell us he won't be coming back after us and that we should leave with another guide. If we hadn't asked, we might have remained in the desert for the day.
