The owner of the inn, Saeko san, speaks English. I took my sons from the USA to stay at Miyasakaya and deeply impressed by her creative cooking, attentive service and nice conversation. This area of Nagano, Japan is famous for snowy winter and is remote from major cities and people are really nice, but do not usually speak English. If you are traveling without enough knowledge of Japanese language, you tend to have difficulty here getting along. Not the case at Miyasakaya. The room rate is very reasonable and you want to stay here forever. Highly recommended for people who do not speak Japanese.
