Stayed at the Windsor for around 5 nights. Was picked up by a cheerful chap at the train station with my name on a sign. Turns out he was a stuntman for the power rangers! We were met by a aussie guy named Ben on check in who was helpful and pointed us in the right direction to aquire our lift passes and snowbaording gear. Our room was a Western room which was plenty big enough for 2 people. It was a little on the older side but still perfect for us upper middle class Australians. While we had our own private bathroom we did use the male and female onsen which was quite interesting. Breakfast was good with a variety of aussie options such as cereal, bacon, toast etc. Ther service was second to none and the staff really helpful. The only downside is that it is around a 15 to 20 minute walk in the snow to the town centre. However the friendly power ranger will give you a lift if you ask nicely and he has time. All in all a pleasant place to stay would defintaley stay again.

Great stay in Myoko

We had a lovely holiday in Myoko Kogen. Staying at the Hotel Windsor was comfortable, friendly and suited our needs perfectly. We loved the personal touch provided by in-house hosts and although language could've been an issue, these guys have it down pat. We hoped to return in 2014 but hear the hotel is closed for the 2014 ski  season :(

Great Ski Holiday in Homely Ski Lodge

Stayed there for a whole week and it was a good enough base to explore the area. The rooms are relatively large (but a little cold). The place looks a little old but well maintained and clean. There's an hourly shuttle stop outside the hotel. The only downside was the distance from the main area of town. This encouraged me to spent many dinners in the lodge which were excellent both in taste and value. The owners Yu san and Shige san are incredibly warm, welcoming and accommodating. Hiromi and Tessa were staff that were really friendly and helpful as well. They have a childcare minding service in the lodge as well.

Stayed 6 nights this year japanese style tatami room
Good location, only 10-15 min walking to Akakura Kanko ski resort, if ski shuttle bus time table is not for you. Shuttle bus service at very front of hotel.

It's more lodge than hotel and have it's own bar and restaurant.

The owners are very kind and it feel like home. I even was lucky to see the japanese drum show.
Some nights (especially Aussie Day) there was some hullabaloo.

Good atmosphere and location

We 2 kids 12&10 + 2 adults stayed here 5 nights. This hotel is approx 15 mins walk from town and local ski reort. Free shutle bus runs 1/2 hourly and stops out the front of the hotel. We stayed upstairs "western room' 2 per room, (you can sleep 4 per room 2 single & a bunk). Our rooms (No.6&7) were generous size w toilet shower, clean and comfortable, wonderful views down the valley and distant mountains. Mid level is a bar/lounge area, eating area (food was v good), enough space to disappear from the kids !! , Lower level has onsen bath, laundry, dying room etc, all good. The hotel is a little old, well worn and has a nice vibe, which suited us. 
The hosts are caring and helpful.  The snow was awesome, the local ski resort fab for all, including young kids & learners.
