Yumenoya

Went in November 2009 with a friend who is from Japan. If you are coming from Tokyo, this place would be considered out in the country. Our taxi driver has a difficult time finding the place as he was unfamiliar with the area. Seems like it is off the main road somewhere in what looks to be a residential countryside area within view of the ocean. Once we got there, the greeting and hospitality was excellent. Very nice and genuine people work there with top level service. Hard to find this in the U.S. so I was very pleased to experience this. Seems like the place was several years old (relatively new onsen) with a few duplex units along a walkway with a main building. Room was clean, peaceful, had a view of the ocean, and had a "furo" which opened to the outside and could fit two. Bed was about queen size and there was also a sitting room and an outside balcony with chairs and small table to admire the view of the ocean beyond. We got to use the main hot spring bathing facility (about 120 square feet) which is under roof but open to the outside without walls. This was a great experience! Very clean facilities also. Reserved for about 1 hour. Dinner was excellent, very delicious. Presentation was 5 stars, taste 5 stars. Ask about portions before you go if you are a big eater. Our course had about 10 small dishes. If you are a city worker, stressed, and want to relax, this is a good choice if you want to get away. Cost was on the expensive side I thought, but I left there feeling like I had an awesome experience. I think everyone should try a great onsen like this if you go to Japan. So save up and go there for a wonderful experience! Small onsen feel, excellent service, excellent food, clean facilities.
