Villa D'Acquarone

On our drive home from Tuscany to Munich, we reserved a night here at this enchanting villa which is like a palace. It has lots of unique history settled high above vineyards overlooking the valley and town. The estate is enclosed by high walls and a large gate. when we arrived we let the lady at the reception know we were there and she opened the gates for us, we drove up a tree lined drive way and into the beautiful grounds of the villa. The caretaker and receptionist met us, signed us in, showed us around and took us to our room up a beautiful grand staircase. I was sharing with a friend so we had a twin room called Moresca and my mother was situated next door in Moresca 2. Both rooms were very different and very unique. The room was clean and over looked the gorgeous trimmed lawns and trees. Both rooms were ensuite. The beds were soft and very comfortable. And then the receptionist said goodbye and that she would see us a breakfast, we soon realized that we were the only guests at that time and that we were the only people staying in that villa that night and that the staff had left or were leaving but they announced that the caretaker would be nearby. The grounds are vast and beautiful, close to the hotel was an outdoor swimming pool but was closed as it was not the seasons, the tree house was enchanting with a beautiful Acer tree. There was lots of out houses which i did explore and it seemed from old notes and addresses that a former duchess owned the property, lots of glass houses and as we wandered off into the more wild areas of the estate we then saw lots of wildlife like king fishers. So beautiful. The hotel has allot of reception rooms with massive chandeliers dominating the ceilings with hand painted ceiling, The rooms were very personal, it was like living away from home and seeing those who may have once lived there with their framed photos scattered over the areas and on the grand piano. Staff returned in the morning, we had a lovely breakfast, they gave us a late check out and we left very happy. we had the opportunity to be greeted by the owner.
