I stayed for 4 days here in March 2019 (but I couldn't put the correct date here). Stay at this place made my trip to Varanasi very enjoyable and memorable. I am still in touch with friends made at Varanasi while being in this place. The rooms are good , comfortable and nice. It could be made much nicer/cleaner with little effort - I found cob webs - but this doesn't matter much to me. Bathroom was good. AC was working. Breakfast was delicious. The rooftop has a fantastic view . The gem of a person is the manager - Mr. Sanjeev. We all called him lovingly - Sanju Bhai. He does his best to make your stay comfortable. He is very resourceful. He will get the best auto/tuk tuk driver to go to Sarnath or airport or station. He will suggest you the best place to have food. He can help you with the best way to go around Varanasi . He can help you with your travel needs. 
Best part of my stay was the location - in a minute I was at the ghat, there are lot of good places to eat around, all the holy places / temples are within few minutes of walk.
I had a wonderful experience at Varanasi.

This was my third time in Shivakashi Guest House. It is for me a home away from home. Mr. Sanjeev, the manager, is a perfect host. He is always there to help his guests or to have very nice talks. Gulu, the housekeeper is Sanjeev’s perfect assistant. The location is in the heart of Bengali Tola, in the heart of fascinating Varanasi, 30 seconds from Ganga and close to the main Alley with its restaurants, shops and chai stalls. Still this Guest House is a peaceful and quiet place with a beautiful roof top in front of the Ganga. I highly recommend this guest house for a full Varanasi experience 🙏🏾

Home away from home 

I really appreciate the warmth and hospitality offered to me and my friend by Mr.Sanjeev ji- Manager and brother Golu in charge on housekeeping work respectively. Since I am an avid traveler, in my journeys across various places, I do come across people who touch our hearts. The entire team of ShivaKashi is so affectionate that now I have decided to make this my permanent place for staying in Varanasi whenever I Visit this place. Simply beautiful experience.
The rooms are clean with 24hr supply of water and hot water. The breakfast and tea too was very good. The hotel is located just few mts away from the ghats. There are lot of eating joints like bona cafe, monalisa cafe, brown bread bakery within 5minutes of walking distance. The location is very good but above all anyone staying here will witness the real Indian hospitality of treating guests like God. And if you are a lover of Dogs like myself, this place won't disappoint you at all... There is Casper the husky and Bajrangi to uplift your spirit anytime .. I cannot wait to come again even if it means to come for a day. Absolutely loved ShivaKashi. Thank you Sanjiv ji and Golu ji. And thank you Casper for the wonderful time. We miss you Casper.

Surreal experience

This is my second time staying here. The hospitality was top rated! The manager and the boys are such wonderful person and helpful. I was still on healing period for my broken ankle and had to use a crutch. I booked in advance a chair to be put in bathroom and motor cycle to pick me up from the mainroad to the house. Even the manager had prepared an extra crutch for me! Such amazing and lovely manager he is! The boys helped me to get my meals and some of my shopping bags after shopping as i couldn’t carry all that up to my room on the 3rd floor with a crutch. It was really amazing stay and i will surely return next year!! Thank you for the hospitality and kindness! The room in the corner on the 3rd floor already have my name on it! :p

I will always return!!

We felt at home in the guest house. Apart from the nice room, hot shower and a beautiful rooftop view we got useful information and help whenever we needed. The location is great: in the middle of the ghats but still in a quiete lane (well, the monkeys, barking dogs and muezzins are just part of the city ;) )

Friendly, calm place with friendly, helpful manager

My sister and I stayed in this hotel at the end of March. For us,  Varanasi was a trip highlight and this hotel certainly contributed to our overall experience in this fascinating city.

The hotel offers modest but comfortable rooms at a very reasonable rate.  Lots of stairs, which was a challenge sometimes! The location was amazing, minutes from the river and from the main ghat. It offers a good breakfast and it is also close to many other excellent restaurants. We arrived by air and appreciated the pick up service. As the hotel is deep into the maze of old Varanasi, the car or even a tuk tuk cannot drive anywhere near it. However, they have a very smooth system to help transport luggage to the hotel or to a cab when you leave. I was initially overwhelmed at the narrow alleyways and was worried I would never figure out how to navigate these intricate streets with all the cows, oxen, motorbikes, pilgrims etc. Of course, we did figure it out, at least enough to get around. 

What really makes this a special place is the manager, Mr Sanjeev.. You will notice in the reviews how often people refer to him. And for good reason. He treats you like a friend. He has an excellent sense of humour and we enjoyed his intelligence, passion for the city, kindness and advice. We noticed that there are many repeat clients and they return, in part, because of him.

I hope I will be lucky enough to return some day to Varanasi and would certainly return to this hotel.

Great base for exploring Varanasi

Stayed at this guest house for a week.  Loved it.  The manager and the boys who do the cooking and cleaning  are friendly and welcoming..  The reception area is spacious with beautiful light.  The rooms are fine. Bed comfortable, Shower plenty of hot water, but you have to put the switch on and then open up both taps.. Some of the rooms have a view of the Ganges River.  Breakfast on the roof top.  Two wonderful dogs Casper, a husky  and Banjyrangy, a pug.  Varanasi is a magical place. I will definitely be back and I will stay at ShivaKashi again. Fantastic location in the Old City close to the ghats.

If I could fit Shivakashi in my backpack, I would take it with me everywhere.  After staying in India for two months, this guest house is undoubtedly the best.  From the moment I arrived to the day of my departure, I felt well and truly at home.  The manager is welcoming, hospitable, polite, friendly and helpful.  Both the guest house and my room were spotlessly clean.  Both the bed and the linen were soft, fresh and clean.  The guest was remarkably quiet in the evening and night meaning I got a good sleep every night that I stayed here.  The shower also has hot water.  In my honest opinion, Shivakashi is perfect and I would highly recommend a stay here.

I stayed for 4 days in this place which made my stay at Varanasi very enjoyable and memorable. The rooms are good , comfortable and nice. Breakfast was delicious and has a fantastic view from the roof top. The chef - Gullu was fantastic. He is a shy person but when he is free - he is a wonderful person to talk to. Other 2 young boys - Dipak and his cousin are wonderful helpful and jolly kids. The gem of a person is the manager - Mr. Sanjeev. We all called him lovingly - Sanju Bhai. He does his best to make your stay comfortable. He is very resourceful. He will get the best auto/tuk tuk driver to go to Sarnath or airport or station. He will suggest you the best place to have food. He can help you with the best way to go around Varanasi . He can help you with your travel needs. He helped me a lot to get my ticket for the onward journey. I used to wake him up early in the morning to open the door for my daily walks to the ghat.

Excellent place if you want to enjoy the ghatsof Varanasi

The location of the property is very good, only a very short walk from the main ghat! 
Breakfast was delicious, toast, butter, jam, eggs to your liking, coffee that actually tasted like coffee and a very good fruit salad, the only thing missing was a little smile from the staff.

I booked this room solely based on the reviews and I must say that I was very disappointed. 
The room was VERY( too) basic, I had booked a room with balcony but there was none. The bed could have been a little bit more confortable and the bathroom a bit more maintained. I would recommend a bedside table with lamp so you don’t have to read at night with the big ceiling neon light in your face.
Everything seemed quite dirty, there was some stains on the sheets and towel (but that isn’t the first time that it happens in India). We could see that no one was really interested in cleaning in the 3 nights we spent there, the same 3 empty bottles of water were on the floor in the stairs... 
We have been traveling India for now 3 weeks and it is our biggest disappointment so far. Maybe we were expecting to much based on the reviews. 
What disappointed me the most was the manager, I was expecting a nice and caring host. He was nice indeed but not really caring, he cared more about judging my studies and professional choices or giving me patronising life lesson rather than giving me useful advices on the city. It did not feel like home AT ALL and I think the value for money is very bad. You can find other places way more welcoming in Varanasi at a cheaper price with better facilities. 
Booking website says it has a in-house restaurant but it doesn’t. However, the manager will order what you need from trusted places he knows around the neighbourhood. 
The terrasse has a good view of the Ganga but after breakfast hours, we felt that it was the space for their 2 (really cute) dogs to run free. 
Also WiFi wasn’t great, it kept breaking down.
