The property is beautiful. Not far from the highway. Has all the amenities required for a comfortable stay. The food was good and the caretaker took good care of all our needs. 

However a few points could be done better.
1. There can be mosquito mesh and retractable mesh put in the doorways and windows above the bed area so mosquitos are at bay. 
2. The basement room and bathroom were neglected and not cleaned before we arrived. So not up to the mark. 
3. Towels can be of better quality too. Need to provide more towels when group is big. 

Overall it's a quite peaceful place away from the crowd with its own charm and beauty. 

Quaint and Quite.

This was the only vacation home that showed up as a pet friendly place, located just outside the Mysore city precincts.  A narrow road branching out from the highway leads to the three level Davey's Townhouse, fully furnished with a kitchenette.  

Built with space in mind, and with the concept of allowing as much natural light as possible, part of the upper wall is entirely of designer glass.  The washroom and shower area gives the effect of being in the outdoors.  

The ground level floor has the living and dining area, furniture and artifacts, an eclectic mix of old world and contemporary.   The centre table caught my attention..a vintage wooden chest with corners and parts inlaid with bronze, the rusted padlocks completing the ethnic look.  The owner is obviously an artist/art lover with the walls covered with paintings.  Small relics placed at strategic places takes you back down memory lane...the Remington typewriter, the old coal fired iron, lampshades, brass ware, adding to the antique decor.

There are two bedrooms.  One at the ground level, at the end of the living/dining area.  A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor spacious bedroom with a huge sit out, shaded by coconut trees.. Another bedroom, kitchen, laundry and staff area at the basement level opens into a small garden patch. 

Breakfast is part of the deal. Not a five star menu. Cooked to order, apart from fresh cut fruits/fruit juice and beverages. Other meals are prepared on request, spices and oil adjusted as per guest's preferences.  Tastes like home made comfort food.  

This property is a strictly 'no smoking zone'.  If you need a few drags, you need to step out to blow rings!

Some negatives always surface once you have visited and stayed.  Number one on the list is the huge exodus of big blood sucking mosquitoes that barge in after sundown. We were cautioned on this, closing doors by 5 pm.  Secondly, the entire villa does not have air conditioners, nor ceiling fans.  The bedrooms have pedestal fans.  Granted the weather right now doesn't warrant the need of of these in  December/January, wonder if the place remains closed for the rest of the year?!  Water pressure in the bathroom taps and shower is low. Upkeep needs improvement/looking into. The ceiling in the living room has damp patches.  The wooden panels at places are rotting, guessing infested by termites.

The housekeeping staff do only the dish washing.  Making beds, cleaning floors, is on request. There is a washing machine for doing laundry chargeable at Rs.500 per wash load.  
  
Overall a place to relax with family in sylvan surroundings. Ideal for big families to meet and spend quality time together. There is only one parking space inside the gate. The second/subsequent cars have to be parked outside, adjacent to the boundary wall.  Yes...safe in a village like scenario.  The outer periphery is covered by CCTV.   

Staff follow the Covid protocols, face masks on.  Sanitizers are kept in all the rooms.  Towels, toilet rolls,  body wash, shampoo dispensers, are provided.  Being the holiday season, the high tariff was expected.  On a scale of one is to ten, I would rate it around seven, for an Airbnb property, run by friendly and efficient staff.  A place definitely worth making a repeat visit. 


Family time.

Excellent homely atmosphere. Superb decor. Very tourist friendly staffs. Only problem is,there are no airconditioners or ceiling fans in any of the room or in the drawing dining. Felt very hot, though all the staffs tried their best to make us feel comfortable. Excellent food. Would love to stay there again and again if there are acs and ceiling fans. All the staffs were pet lovers and took very good care of our pet. Had wonderful time though

Davey's townhouse

This is the place to stay in Mysore.  You'll get personalized attention and a travel guide in and stay in an open spacious home close to but outside of the city's hubbub.  The staff will provide a wonderful homemade breakfast to order, both Western and Indian.
