My recent visit to this hotel was done after a very long thought.. 

I have noticed the following changes.. 

01. Flat TV screens are replaced in the rooms in first two floors..

02. Beds were changed, Good beds are replaced and neatly covered.. 

03. Responding to Customers are improvising.. 

Hope this continues in future too..

Improvising.. Expecting better.. 

During mid 80's and 90's it is one the best hotel in town. But now, this hotel is losing its name. Budget hotel in the heart of the city nearest to bus stand, rail station and surrounded by temples. The rooms are not renovated and feels very aged. Cleanliness is a big minus. Better to get food from nearby hotels. Ample car parking space available. Not much channels to choose for TV audience. Clarity and quality is also poor. Strictly budget hotel expect that kind of stay and service.

The Lost Charm -

I had been to Madurai along with my aged parents for a pilgrimage.

My friend had booked our rooms at Aarthy Hotel. I was not aware of this hotel as I am not a frequent visitor to Madurai.
Let me factually put my views.

Location: Can't beat it. Just 25 minute walking distance from Central Bus stand in the City and 15 minutes by walk from Railway station.

Hotel has ample parking facilities. 
My father recollected that he had stayed there many years ago and that made me comfortable as he did not have any bad experiences.
The rooms (AC deluxe) were very spacious and clean.
The restaurant is spacious and clean.
The hotel's cleanliness generally ok.
The hotel staff were very very polite and helpful.

What killed the entire experience was the service. 
Rooms were not cleaned during our two day's stay.
The bathrooms had drains blocked and water started overflowing into the room. There were no cleaning staff available.
Innumerable complains made and after two hours the problem was attended to but it did not completely solve the problem as drain could not be fully cleaned.

There was no water flowing in the tap on the second day and our program got upset because of this. Our repeated complains went to deaf ears.

The restaurant service was extremely slow. The stewards are very old (above 60 it seemed) and when we went for breakfast, we had to wait for 10 minutes and nobody came to attend to us. We left very upset and went to nearby restaurant to eat. Coupled with water woes this delay was making things worse.

We had snacks (tiffin as we call it) in the evening and food quality was ok.

During our days of stay, the wifi service was not available(the receptionist told that it was under repair but after two days it was not put back to service).

My opinion:
If you want to stay in centrally located place, Aarthy is good.
If you are just happy with polite and gentle room service staff, Aarthy is ok.
But if you expect any other service, Aarthy fell very much short of expectations
For Rs 2000, in totality, the place is not worth the money.

Aarthy Hotel- Good but not good...

We had booked 6 rooms through a reputed travel portal. We booked 2 deluxe AC and 4 standard AC rooms for 1 night. We were in town to attend a wedding. There were no major issues on check in. The F.O. mgr did not not ask us for any advance when we presented our booking confirmation email; he just asked us sign in the check in register and allotted us our rooms. 1 room was delayed by a few hours due to housekeeping delays but we didn't mind . Overall, we were in our rooms in under 30 mins. That about ends the positive experiences here.

Upon switching on the ACs, we found that some of them dripped water, others simply didn't cool the rooms. Constant complaints regarding both were either ignored or met with the standard "We'll send someone up Sir". There were quite a lot  of mosquitoes in the room which were damn near impossible to handle. The bed was alright but the pillows were about as thick as a folded towel. When a request was made for an extra bed(I have 2 children 9 & 4) and some pillows, we were told that all extra bedding were "over". We had to make do on the double bed with folded clothes as pillows and Sarees as blankets. We were not even given a single blanket.
The bathroom was small with the only slatted window opening into the Hallway!!! Very poor/ignorant design. Hot water was available only at random times and at small quantities at a time. 

But since we were there for a particular purpose, we ignored it all, kept our spirits up till it was time for check out. We were in for a nasty surprise. We were charged for 6 deluxe AC rooms though we had booked for 2 of those (Std ac - Rs.990, Del.AC - Rs.1500). When we presented the email confirmation of our booking, we informed coldly that we should have checked with management about which room were allotted to us at the time of check. At this point, I lost my normally cool demeanor and pointed out that we had showed him our booking which clearly mentioned the types and no. of rooms. He simply shrugged and said he was helpless now that we had stayed in the rooms. He refused to even give us a nominal discount considering that we booked 6 rooms. By this time the children were getting restless and agitated, given that we were all tired after attending 2 days of ceremonies. We ended up paying what was demanded. At this point the F.O.Manager grinned from ear-to-ear and announced that he will make sure that he "makes it up to us" on our NEXT TRIP!!!???

I would definitely NOT return to this sorry excuse of a hotel and I would very vehementely dissuade any traveller from wasting his time, money and peace-of-mind by staying here.

Alright for Overnight business travellers but No-No for families with children

Waste of your money... already used bed ..The room is very bad.. I have been staying in foreign cities for the last 5 years.. This is a very bad experience.. If you are going to stay, go for a good hotel 0.1/5

Bad experience 

Our relatives who stayed in the hotel for two days last week told us not to book hereafter in that hotel. Earlier too I stayed there. Advised them to improve. But the standard is poor. Not worth for two thousand five hundred.

Function

This hotel says that it would allot rooms only if the travellers have booked the room atleast a day before.. 

But,  is this a worthy place to spend your money.. 

NO.. DEFINITELY NOT.. 

Let me tell you in detail.. 

Room size - good for two
Bed - very worst (see the picture attached) 
TV - not working
Bathroom - very worst and not clean

Overall rating - 1.5 / 5.0

during my recent visit to Madurai, i stayed for two nights in the above hotel. First posistives - Location in the city centre near to bus stand, railway station and shopping areas. This is the only positive aspect. Now negatives - Room was not painted and walls were in poor condition. Hot water was not coming in bathroom, when asked they gave a bucket of warm water. For the whole period of stay net was not coming. At the time of check in they said you will get a password in your registered phone soon. It never came and when enquired they squarely put the blame on Telecom operator. So no net for full two days? can you believe in 21st century no net for two days? Cleaning the room was not done. Room lights were dim. Overall it was a disaster. Will never go that hotel side only.

my stay in Aarthy Hotel

We booked 1 dexune room for 1500 in aarthy hotel in online and when we ware to check in, my dad inspected the  room and discovered that the receptionist had given us a 1250 rupees room and when we asked the receptionist he merely replied 'only 250     rupees difference' but we said we wanted our rooms so we had to wait for half an hour.and there is no wiki connection in this hotel and the  receptionist  is very mean and i have posted the photo here the fat man is the one who dealed with us so don't believe whatever the Internet says and book other hotels in tripAdvisor
