This is about our booking experience since we didn't actually get to stay here! Months ahead I had made 4 bookings at the Madeleine Inn (via Hotels.com) at different times for January / February 2020. A week before our first arrival, I happened to email to check with them that they were happy to receive a letter which I was expecting to be delivered just before arrival. I then received a reply which just stated they were out of the country and we couldn't stay the following week (which was a 3 night booking). They did not reply at all when I asked if that also applied to the other bookings. Hotels.com had also not been informed they were closed. We passed by the Inn while in Kochi, both in early January and mid -Feb and it appeared to be locked up. Maybe there was some kind of family emergency but it was disappointing they hadn't let us know - I'm just glad we didn't turn up to stay there only to find it was locked up (which I suspect would have happened had a not happened to send that email!) It seems a pity as it had good reviews and the location looked excellent.

Cancelled our bookings  with little notice

Very clean, beautiful wooden floors, great location close to the sea, family always reachable and very helpful. Hot water and air conditioning work very well. Lovely and comfortable old four poster bed.

Great place

First let me say the hosts Stuartji and his wife Inez were amazing!  I thoroughly enjoyed my talks with them.  I booked a budget room which had private unattached bath. Linens and towels were clean, as was my rooom.  Keep in mind this is a homestay not a hotel.  WiFi worked great in the common areas. Stuartji made me a fantasy breakfast consisting of eggs and toast every morning.

Warm welcome/nice  stay

Stayed 2 nights. We arrived at 2.30am and Stuart the host, was super friendly and relaxed. He and his family are gracious and caring people and remained that way throughout our stay.
The building has ambience as it is over 400 years old.
The rooms are basic but clean and large enough. The air conditioning and wifi worked excellently.
There is hot water and the bathroom is adequate.
The location is excellent, close to everything, walking distance.
Overall, for the price, it’s certainly value for money.

Great intro to India.

The Madeleine Inn was a lovely place to stay. Very comfortable and clean. Stuart and his wife were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, close to fantastic restaurants and interesting sites. We would definitely recommend them.

Friendly hotel

two month back me and my friend came here but out side the road only n we took pics of that road n ancient mansions, on that time only we both planed to came here again n definitely we will stay here.After our hectic life we manage somehow n came here but we came so late at night but uncle and auntry both welcome us nicely.The main thing of this home stay is, its really a ancient mansion, very nice breakfast, their hospitality, well decorated room, good facilities like WiFi, n moreover so much close to see... its a wonderful experience for me to staying such a beautiful real ancient mansion.
