Super easy check-in. We landed at 5am and were given codes and instructions so we could check ourselves in. 

Room was super clean. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was really nice. Lots of thoughtful touches and details (coffee and tea, pen, paper and reading glasses all outside for guest use, a carafe of water and glasses waiting for us in the room, good toiletries in the bathroom.) Owners were very sweet. 

Was a little further from the airport than expected, but getting there was super easy and there’s lots of parking right out front.

This is a lovely place to stay. I had a double with private bathroom. It was very clean and great amenities. Mini fridge, breakfast stuff in the fridge (juice, apple, yoghurt and granola and cereal bar), tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer, Toiletries. Very comfortable. Kind welcome. I would highly recommend.

Perfect location for exploring Keflavik and very short ride to the airport. I asked our host about a taxi and he said it wouldn't be a problem to drive us to the airport....this morning,  actually. The house is spotless and the host family very pleasant. The little fridge was stocked with yogurt and some fruit and the wifi was fine. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. Highly recommend:)

Other's comments had made me slightly leery, but I am so glad I reserved at A. Barnhart guest house! It's proximity to the airport is a huge plus, but the guesthouse itself is it's own reward, as well. The only downside was the cost of the cab ride to get there from the airport, and you can't blame the guesthouse for that. It's an outrageous charge for such a short trip. 
So, what's to love about this place? 
Booking it through Hotels. Cook is quite an easy process
Owner answered our ring on the bell within a minute. He lives next door. 
Extraordinarily clean
You can book without breakfast to save money.
Rooms are sparsely, get very tastefully decorated. The entire house is very modern / Scandinavian in the feel. Love that!
Sitting room upstairs is delightful, with comfy furniture, big screen TV, a large kitchen, and a comfortable welcoming feel.
Beds were soft and comfortable, comforters quite warm.
Just a short walk to a number of restaurants and the water, at what you can see the Northern Lights if you get lucky, as I did.
Owner helped me find a better price on a taxi to the airport the next morning.
though I hadn't paid for breakfast, I was invited it to help myself to tea and coffee, either in the room, or upstairs in the kitchen.
What's not to love?
I stayed in the winter, and if there was only one other occupant that I know of. That was fortunate, because the one very small bathroom would really be pressed into too much service if three or four rooms were occupied. it's possible there was another closed off bathroom upstairs, but I didn't see evidence of it.
Though there is a lovely, nicely stocked kitchen upstairs, there are several signs notifying occupants that they are for private use only, it would be nice if you were at least invited to use the toaster, microwave, etc.
The price I paid was quite reasonable, for Iceland. Of course, it was wintertime. Nearby restaurants were also more reasonable than I have found in Reykjavik. Only the taxi was crazy expensive.
as others have mentioned, the owners are quite adamant about not wearing shoes in the house. If, indeed, this is an Icelandic tradition, can't complain about that! A. Berhard does provide a nice shoe rack, and the floors are so clean, I didn't mind walking around in my sock feet.

We stayed at the guest house, as soon as we arrived the owners were really helpful. We was allowed to drop off our bags early and they even allowed us to check in early.

They were really friendly helpful and chatty, they shared their experience of living in Iceland and it was great to understand the culture of the country.

The guest house has all the facilities you need there was even shower gel, shampoo hand wash. Rooms are exceptionally clean and tidy and I think we all had the best nights sleep.

Our last night in Iceland we wanted to be near the airport. Found this place by accident. From the moment we arrived our Hostess was welcoming, helpful and a lovely lady. 
Because of a cancellation we were upgraded to a superior room. The bed was huge, the bathroom was next door and it was big and beautiful. This is their home and we were made to feel like it was ours too. Everything was laid out for breakfast and we were shown what we could use in the fridge too. 
I thoroughly recommend this beautiful home in a lovely part of Keflavik! 

Room was lovely with excellent bed and space to move around, closets and 2 soft chairs with a small table.  Good TV system but no instructions provided how to use the TV vs. black box remote, etc. (all guess work).  Shared bathroom is large with great shower.  Nespresso coffee provided.  Hospitality is on the rough side (not outwardly friendly).  Only rides TO the airport in the a.m. are provided.  Overall, good value and good option for a night or more.  

Rooms need blackout curtains and better sound proofing especially to outside traffic (cars starting) and other noises.

The house is beautiful! We stayed here because it is so close to the airport. We had rented a car and many of the car rental offices are less than a 5 minute drive away. We parked in the designated spots and were greeted by the owner. The family lives in the house next door. We were upgraded rooms to a larger one, presumably because no one else was staying the night. The owner was pretty stern but that’s ok. 

We wondered around the town looking for dinner, but after eating in Iceland for 3 days we were on a budget. We found some frozen meals that were 300 ISK each, at lease a 1/5th the cost of eating in a restaurant. We took the meals back to microwave. We were told we couldn’t cook but figured a microwave is ok. We took care to not make a mess, and the plates were not microwaveable so we didn’t use them. We were able to figure out the tv and watched some cartoons. 

We woke up before 5am for breakfast, which was simple but nice. There was bread and things for making sandwiches. However, we noticed a camera sitting near the kitchen table pointed at the kitchen. I’m guessing this is to make sure no one uses the appliances, but was a little erking to see.

Beautiful House, Kitchen isn’t part of the stay

We booked the room with the private bath.  Initially, our room was given to someone else. However, once the mistake was recognized, changes were made and the room was cleaned.  The room was very clean and the bed was nice.   There is a small refrigerator for your items.  No breakfast/food came with this room, thus not a bed and breakfast.  It could be called a guest house.   The room was big enough for 2 and all our gear we used for a 3 week trip.  The owners live on the top floor of this guesthouse.  This room was close to the street.  Thus, if you are a light sleeper, you may hear the noise.  One reason we booked this place was for a ride to the airport.  We got a ride from the host to the airport since we had a late morning flight.   However, another couple who had an early morning flight had to take a taxi.  The location is good if you need to walk to a restaurant.  Only a couple blocks from the Rain. The BIG downside is that the hostess/wife is very rude.  She acts like you are invading her space.  I agree with the opinion that she does not understand the hospitality business.  We got yelled at because we were quickly unloading the campervan we used for the trip in her driveway.  Parking is across the street.  One of the party members who needed the taxi was rudely treated when they wanted to confirm that indeed a taxi was called.   Thus, if you need to interact with a proprietor when you stay somewhere, this is not the place.

Good location but hostess can be rude

2.5 rating. We arrived at the door and we didnt know what to do because we didnt see a doorbell or instructions. The door was open so we walked in (like you would for a hotel). We said "hello" as we walked in and 2min later the owner comes over and he acted as if we shouldnt be there. We said well the door was unlocked. He said the door should NEVER be unlocked. Ok...we felt awkward and not welcome after that. He told us some rules and left. Didnt say anything else. Really weird to share an extremely tiny bathroom. Couldnt use the kitchen- a sign said "for private use". odd/unwelcoming. and there was no breakfast. how can you call yourself a bed and breakfast with no breakfast?
